MA TL buyers
Ok, been here forever, but my car is officially F@$%^ now. Time to buy. As you can guess I am going with the greatest car around for the price, the TL.
Where to buy is the only issue. Any experiences, stories.... etc? I heard Clair in Walpole is good.
How are the deals in MA
There is:
Herb Connely
Clair
Acura Boston
that I know of
appreciate the info everyone, debate away
soon to be Anthracite/ Quartz/ auto/ nav

Bought my 2000 TL at Clair Acura, got it for 5% over invoice and got a few things thrown in for free Wheel locks and winter floor mats. I have been getting my car serviced lately at Acura of Auburn, the service dept. is good, don't know too much about the Sales dept. Last time I went in for service, about a week before the release of the TL, I talked to one of the sales people, he didn't know that much about the new TL, but had me talk to one of the sales associates who had gone to the ride and drives and he knew pretty much everthing about the car. There is also Acura of Peabody, but I know nothing about them.

Clair is awesome. I dealt with a guy there called Warren Newland straight over the internet. Then pulled in, made the purchase, and was on my way. He was willing to deal as well, and was willing to do so over e-mail, which was great.

I guess I am the dissenting vote here. I orignally went to Clair(closest) in Nov and was going to pay MSRP. I e-mailed Newport Acura and got the same price so I figured I was good to go. I had also e-mailed Acura of Boston and didn't get a price quote, but "come on in and we can talk". Long story short, we traded e-mails and finally visited. Got $1395 off sticker plus wheel locks and trunk tray for free. When I first sat down with the Joel, he said he would take $1000 off just to take the deal away from Clair. Picked up my car ( Blk/Quartz/6SP/Navi) a month ago - in Brighton.

Starting negotiations now. Clair offered me 1000 off, but I need to beat the Acura Boston 1400 mark. Anthracite/ Quartz/ auto/ nav is rare though and I am going to need to wait a while.
Any accessories I should look to have thrown in that you guys feel have proven valuable?

Hi Moreace,
The $1400 off for a Nav car around here is about as good as I have seen.
I got the all season mats thrown in and they are a big help in winter.
You can try Sunnyside in NH, they were very nice over the phone when I was looking in December. About the same price as Acura of Boston.
I agree that Sam at Acura of Boston knows the product and is a pleasure to work with. If you live around Boston, I would consider sticking with these folks.
If you are shooting for price, the best deals were coming from Scarsdale NY (Curry Acura I think). The deal I remeber was $29,800 for a non Nav Auto car. The transaction fee was only $15.
Another rationale thought, the Nav is sweet but in this area, it will cost you about $3000 more than a non Nav car.

Sorry for the delayed response. I payed $33,600 for the silver navi 5AT, $35,500 walk out the door price... (tax, tags, etc., all included). Again, Warren Newland, who is their Internet sales manager and who was willing to negotiate and do the deal over e-mail, was an excellent help. The delivery itself took no time at all, and they have been great with both pre-sales and follow up.

I bought a TL w/ out Nav 3 days ago. I paid only 2% over the invoice price at $30,100 from Acura of Boston. I dont know its a good deal or not. I didn't need a Navagation, its not necessary for me. I dont know what the hype about it. Why pay extra 2000k, when you have maps. I guess it depends on people preference.

You're not the only one....I didn't like my initial treatment at Clair either. I wouldn't go back to these guys. I wound up buying mine at Inskip in Warwick RI. Got $1200 off of sticker on NAV plus floor mats and trunk tray. Also negotiated decent prices on other accessories (underbody and deck lid spoilers) and extended warranty. All in all, I was happy I didn't buy from Clair and got it at Inskip.
Good luck. Let us know when you take delivery.

Clair has been nothing, but nice to me. I think I am going to use them. I talked to inskip, but would just find it easier to buy and register in MA

After my bad experience at Clair, it was so nice going to Inskip. I was still in the midst of test driving different cars (even though I was 99% sure I wanted the TL) and having them all under one roof at Inskip made it *so* convenient. I went down on a real nice day back in December and spent the entire day just going from dealership to dealership test test driving all the cars on my short list. When it came time to talk price with the Acura folks, I had a decent experience with them and was able to negotiate to a point where I was happy with what I was paying. They did all the registration in MA for me, so that aspect of it made absolutely no difference.
Inskip also happened to be the second closest dealership to me, even though they are in RI (Clair was the closest).
Good luck with the purchase, whereever you wind up.

moreace,
I've already posted this in two other threads but I placed my deposit for a white/quartz/navi/AT today at Acura of Boston for $2000 below MSRP with no accessories. I forgot to ask about adding an alarm and remote starter. I was about to ask for Sam there but he was not in. I got Debbie instead and she was fantastic. Very polite and willing to work with me. I got them to throw in a free oil change as well. The car will be built next month for delievery in mid May. Hope this helps you.
