M45 vs RL

I am not stock....had a little fun with a M45 today. Every time we ran...he managed to pull very very slightly.

I was impressed I rand such a close race with the M45 V8. He pulled up and said
"whoa...didn't think the RL was that quick"

I smiled and we both went separate ways.

Not bad, those are powerful cars.

They usually trap around 101.5 in the 1/4, so that's pretty good!

Good job, lol..I guess part of the reason is the M45 is only good for 325hp or something? But damn ..so much torque.....

That Maxima driver sounded COUNTRY!! Anyway, those videos reminded of the ONLY attribute of my old 05 Murano that I did not like: CVT!!!

Yeah I am not a big fan of the CVT either. My grandmother owns a 09 Murano and the CVT just doesn't do it for me. I much prefer a conventional automatic tranny.

Ugggg....the sound of that CVT makes me want to puke. It's sounds like a 16 y/o slipping the hell out of a clutch going up a hill. Why Nissan, why? Give up the CVTs. They seriously kill the driving experience.

As for the race, the Maxima owner didn't look real experienced in much of anything related to driving. The M45 is a strong performer though (lower 14s at 100mph+). In the right hands and with some good break-in, I'm sure it has a high 13 second potential.

I agree as far as the Maxima guy not really knowing how to get the full potential out of his car. Still the M45 pulled nicely on it though.

His RL would lose. I think he would be a great race with a auto Base TL with I/E. His AWD would not do him any good from a roll. Plus he weighs in at close to 4000lbs. From a stop would be interesting though. A stock RL is about as fast as a stock base TL auto. You have I/E/and crank pulley right blazing?

6MT Accord = 6MT TL in terms of performance, I'm down
I think the race would be closer than you think Satin..they come with what, 290 from the factory? Minus the auto tranny, plus the mods he probably has 245 to the wheels? It is heavy tho..I'm sure it'd be a good race anyhow.

Blazing your RL sounds really really really good. I heard it at the meet and it was bettuh then sexxx

You might be right. Stock I know that car runs low 15's with traps in the low 90's from what I have seen. With I/E/P he should be in the mid-high 14's(guessing). No faster than a Base TL with I/E. I don't think he would be trapping higher than 95-97MPH with AWD and being automatic.

I found this 06 RL with I/E/P. 0-90MPH or so.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miRR8...eature=related

Here is a new 09 RL 0-60.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcq2644VV24

Both seem slower than my AV6 lol.

I ran against an M45 Sport a few years ago when I had my Maxima, and did so on a empty stretch of the NY Thruway. I pretty much held my own (him pulling ever so slightly) until I hit my fuel cutoff @ ~ 130mph. So, I can buy the OP's experience with the RL vs M45. (I just needed some time to 'digest' the RL's potential a bit before responding to the RL vs M45 matchup.)

Once the VK50VE transforms it into the M50, the game will change.

yeah I was pretty suprised of the outcome to...I only started pulling on him in my 3rd gear. Ask any RL owner how hard the car pulls in 3rd

I took a A/T already....my rims weigh 40lbs each and that does not include tires. It is really killing my performance.

I really don't believe in mag racing. I had a 04 TL and this car feels quicker.

Who was quoting mag racing? I have seen a few stock RL's at Infineon run low 15's with traps in the low 90's. On drag times there is one also. A stock AV6 auto is faster than that! That 2.4560ft from the RL is due to the AWD bog the car has. It doesn't have enough torque to get it out of the hole without bogging.

http://www.dragtimes.com/Acura-RL-Timeslip-4581.html

With I/E/P and 40lbs rims you probobly aren't any faster than stock. Put your stock rims back on that will help you!

I can guarentee my AV6 pulls harder than your RL in 3rd gear. Look at the youtube vids of a auto AV6 vs the RL with I/E/P.

Also look at the RL's difference between the 1/8th mile MPH and 1/4 mile MPH. Its only 18.xxMPH. My AV6 at the track had a 20.xxMPH difference! So my 3rd gear pulls harder!
