Lumbar noise

Has anyone else had problems with the adjustable lumbar support in the driver seat (maybe passenger seat as well but i dont sit there, nor know if there is even one for that matter.) A few days ago the lumbar support felt loose and was making noises when i shifted my weight. there are 17k on the car and this week has been the first time ive noticed anything irregular with the seat (aside from those infamous butt prints). Anyone else experience anything like this?

oh yes, I have had this problem as well, I thought it was because of the cold weather here in the northeast, but since you are having the same issue, it is infact a problem.

Basically, I hear noises coming from the lumbar when I push back on my lower back. There is no easy way to explain this, but I am hoping you are talking about the same thing. It comes on occasionally, I would say 4 out of 5 days I can hear it. I might show this to a dealer on my next visit and see what they say. Don't really know why this is happening.

Your descriptions sound like a malfunction to me. No noises from mine and I will shift the support around several times during a trip. By the way, the passenger seatback has no movable lumbar support.

What kind of "noise"? Could you guys explain or describe it a little more?

Noise is one of the most difficult issues to talk about on the forum.

The "noise" sounds like something is either loose or partially deflated and there is plastic on plastic...muffled and sort of sharp. Its almost more than a feeling rather than a clear noise...when I push my back into the seat it feels like the lower part of the seat "pops", not like when you pop a soda can, but when you move a piece of thin sheet metal back and forth....

Sounds like one of the rollers or something in the support mechanism might be loose. For some reason I thought the lumbar support was like an air bladder that inflated, but it is actually a metal piece that moves up and down on two tracks when the motor is actuated.

Sounds like a trip to the service department might be just the thing to clear this up.

subinf, thanks so much for your clarification. I'm apparently able to replicate that "sound" from my lumbar support if pushing it hard. If Ron A didn't post it above, I'd think that Acura seems not to have the solid object inside but something inflated with air. Please keep us updated. If this is really the issue, I should have my dealer checked it up in my next service visit. (Obviously, I never thought it would be the case...) Thanks.
