I've used lubegard red and have had good results. Just a few ounces made a difference.

Sorry guys, LubeGard is pretty much snake oil, any perceived positive effects will be short lived.

The Instant shudder fix DOES work, but only for the duration of that fluid being in the case. When you change the transmission fluid next time, you'll need to dump in another tube. The friction modifier in the add-in fluid helps with worn out clutch packs grab better, but it's not a cure all fix. If you want to fix it for good, then the transmission needs to be rebuilt with new clutch packs.

You need to understand the addition of non-OEM spec friction modifiers will accelerate the clutch wear of already worn out clutches thus hastening the demise of the transmission.

It might be snake oil for you but it works for me and a lot of other people with outstanding results. My Dodge Caravan started having serious shudder issues around 90k miles, I put a tube of Lubegards Dr. Tranny Shudder fix and my van currently has 164K miles and tranny works perfect, now how is that snake oil again? And if 70k miles is temporary fix in your eyes let it be so but it was well worth the 6-7 bucks I paid for it.

Before using Lubegards products I was just like you, I thought it was all a joke but hey it works and I have nothing negative to say about their products.

Without boring you with my credentials (hey, I'm just some schmuck on the internet), the fact remains, any properly maintained transmission, and by that I mean, the correct ATF as specified by the manufacturer is in said transmission, then using an aftermarket product like LubeGard will hasten the end of the life of the transmission it is in. What most folks don't understand is too many friction modifiers is just as damaging to automatic transmissions as too few.

Regarding your Caravans, I've had four (well, actually two plus two Town & Country vans), and am very familiar with their transmissions; if LubeGard fixed your 41TE (an assumption on my part this is the transmission you are referring to), then it is an odds on bet the transmission didn't have ATF+4 in it and you got lucky and got near the correct amount of friction modifiers.

Here you are again arguing with people. That's why I said at the end the cure all fix is to rebuild the transmission. I didn't say use it all the time always.

If somebody here doesn't have that much money and wants to have the car functioning for another so many more months, then use lubegard. There are reports of this working for other Honda V6 transmissions. The clutch packs will wear out eventually, lubegard just prolongs the transmission functionality for a little longer. Until it happens to you and try it yourself, you are just saying it's snake oil. I tried it myself and the TCC lockup slipping issue went away, until I got my AV6 trans rebuilt.

The other thing to try is to use Valvoline maxlife which has worked for some Honda Odyssey guys. It yields a firmer shift than OEM DW-1, less intentional slipping between shifts.
