lower grill mod on 07 Type-S

hey guys i bought some extra lower grills for my 07 type-s to mod. i only did one side to see how it would look. i orderd some aluminum grill from grillguy.com. and cut it to fit using my dremil tool. it's not that cheap gutter grill stuff many people use. its powder coated black, and pretty thick.what do you think.

modded side

stock side

front

should i leave it stock? or do the whole thing. i also order the top front grill too. the plastic oem grill parts were cheap $15 for each lower grill and $9 for the top from del ray acura.

The modded side looks 100x's better than the stock side. Not sure how much material you got, but if you can do the upper grille, as well, it will look very good!

I also think the stock style looks better, but that's mostly because of the state of the large upper grill. If you changed that out to match it with the modded one, it might look better than the stock. I think for my personal preference, though, I like the honeycomb with the larger openinigs.

Then again, I give props to anyone who tries something different. It's all about what you like, since it is your car.

Oh, and I definitely don't think it looks bad...just to be clear.

I think it looks incredible! GREAT JOB!

So explain this for me...This is what I THINK you did...

You ordered an additional set of lower grille inserts, cut the plastic honeycomb out, mounted the metal honeycomb from behind, then replaced the entire piece.
And you're planning on doing the same thing to your upper grille as well.

Did I even come close to guessing right?

If so, did you have to remove the entire bumper to get the OEM insert off? Or were you able to get it out from under the car?

One more question... Is the metal honeycomb available in stainless as well as powdercoated black?

I would do the rest like you did that one side. It looks really good and you know that it would a different look from everybody else's car.

Im in the process of working on my grille too. I didn't realize the lower pieces were so damn cheap. I'll order them and cut those up that way if I screw up (not an experienced dremel user) I don't ruin my stock ones

Looks rele good! BUT-(this all depends on the price and time involved) it's not that much of a difference, especcially to the common eye/nonTL modder, dont know if it's really worrth it for the TLS.

Don't get me wrong though..I think it looks great. And if it's not too time consuming/expensive than it's a really good mod

If you changed the main grill, would it restrict the airflow? I think the modded side looks less open that the stock honeycomb.

By the way, I like the mod and I think you did a very neat installation.
