I just had to say that one of my neighbors bought an 08' lotus exige s. I just cant believe the motor is only a supercharged 1.8 celica motor. It puts out 220 hp and 165 torque. But the surprising thing is 0-60 in 4.2 sec. and 1/4 mile at 12.8. Yeah it only weighs about 1900 lbs, but just think of all the cars that car can eat up with just a 1.8.

 

The NA version of the 1.8L engine is already a decent engine, tuned/developed by/with Yamaha.

matrix xrs' have 164hp and run to 60 in 7.7 and run high 15's. unless he was seriously modded and/or had a blower there is no way a matrix xrs would beat a stock TL.

Those cars are great for racing but not comfortable inside at all. Not really a daily driver IMO.

 

After seeing Top Gear's review / test drive, I was laughing. Jeremy Clarkson is a big guy; watching him climb into that thing was humorous .

 

hmmm id love to give a lotus a run. ive only played with one exige on the hwy (i wasnt spraying) and damn those things are fast. he gave me ridde in it after. idk whts more impressive the 1/4 mile time or the fact he was bangin turns at 120mph

 

My buddy destroyed his Elise after spinning out into a pole because of those metal plates they put over construction areas. He broke 5 ribs and punctured a lung NOT from the side of the car or the pole, but from the seat bolster. That thing has only an inch of padding...

I can believe it if it's seriously modded (internals, etc.).

I got pulled on slightly at the top of 3rd gear by an XRS while having my fat friend with me. That thing had to have been cammed the way the motor was screaming at WOT. My friends STILL laugh at me about it to this day. Also, I've pulled a 3G before, well, a stock one, so that should give you an idea.

In what, the 335? I think we both know the outcome of that one. If it's TL to TL, I wanna see, too!

Even giving him a 1.5CL head start and 1 second of pushing the gas, I still pulled on him, passing him by 90.

My 88 Toyota MR2 SC (slightly modified) is definitely as fast as or sometimes faster (cooler outside temps) than my 03 TLS.
Light weight and decent HP, and i can out corner the TLS in the MR2.

My Acura is definitely a highway car, the Toy is fun on back roads...

 

There was this GTI that really pissed me off on Park Presidio one night. There I am, with 15 cars with me, minding my own business when this new GTI mashes it two lanes over. I turn and look, and pull away from him. THe guy was making all this noise but not going anywhere, haha. Man, some of them are the new Civics...

Those Lotus are nice. Efficient on gas and its not very expensive. An excellent mini supercar.
