Lost In TL Land

So, i have had my 2007 TL for one month now, its black on black and i've done a few mods..
-Window tint (limo on back, 25% on front)
-LED White lights in interior/licence plate
-KN filter
-Roof Spoiler
-Trunk Lip

In conclusion, it doesnt look like a 40 year old ladies car anymore

My question is.. What next? My cars at the dealership as i type this getting a synthetic oil change... I don't know if i want to do performance, looks, audio etc..

Is it really worth doing performance on a 258HP TL? Can i make it look any sexier without ricing it? And is an aftermarket sub really going to beat that much louder with the sacrifice of room in the trunk?

I can just stop doing stuff to it now and save a lot of money on parts and upgrading.. But as you all probably know.. Its bloody addicting

Sorry, and one more question.. I got my windows tinted but stupidly i rolled the front drivers side, and back drivers side window down without thinking right after tinting it.. Now the tint is screwed up on the two windows (window looks all scratched up).. I have a 2 year warranty or something on the tint. Do you think they'd fix it?

And yes, they did tell me not to roll down the windows for 2-3 days

I wouldn't think so. Bottom line, it was your fault. How can they cover that under warranty.

Never hurts to ask, but don't count on it.

And i have stock 17's on it right now with 100% tread on tires, should i just go for 17 inch rims and save money on tires cause already have em?

Haha, thats actually my plan! Plus want to get taillights smoked.. Does anyone have a pic on here of their taillights smoked, and blacked out taillights as well? Dunno what will look better..

Furthermore, has anyone blacked out just the yellow thingy on the headlights? I want to get rid of the yellow on the headlights and thinking just blacking out that area with tint would be the quickest smartest way?

i tinted my whole headlights on my G35 and the clarity sucked after that. So don't want to do that again.

If you still have 100% tread, get the wheels you want and stay with the 17's.

even if you fuck up they will still fix your tint. Most of the places are like that. Nice to see another Canadian and kind of close to Edmonton. Lower the car first. Then look into wheels. I hate seeing cars on nice wheels but 4x4ing it around. And don't get 17s just so you can use the tires.

i would NOT waste my money on 17", either upgrade size or keep stock. if you cant swing the wheels and tires then i would put all my cash in to a drop. trust me, stock wheels with a nice drop looks WAY better than any wheel upgrade/change while riding stock height.

Haha, nice.. From E-Town! (Go Flames go :P) Going there next weekend for wonderland

My only problem with lowering the car is that it is my all-year car.. The main reason i got rid of my G35 coupe was cause thing sucked in the winter and didn't want to pay insurance on a beater and the g35.. So got the TL Alberta winters are screwed, thats why i don't know if i want to lower the car. How has your TL been performing in the Winters? Or do you have a beater?

And my plan is to probably wait for a nice set of rims/tires that are used to come-up and buy em off kijiji or something. Could never invest in new a new set.. Way overpriced IMO.

It really depends on what do you think performance is....

Stock sub is crap, and there are plenty of fiberglass molds to suit your need for trunk space. I have my JL 12, and still all the room in the world in my trunk

By the way, to me performance is making your car faster by squeezing out every whp you can out of your stock 258hp car; make it more torque stable as well...

OILERS wooot haha jk I barelly watch hockey. I'm gonna be at wonderland too, Lisa Lashes is crazy and so sexy. It's gonna be a good night.

My car is lowered. 1.5" all around on springs/shocks. And this is my all year around car, and I had no problems at all. Never got stuck or anything. If there is a huge snow fall I just know not to go into little streets where they don't cleanthe roads or that don't have enough traffic. I didn't wanna get a beater car, winters are long and I like to enjoy my cars to the fullest. I would actually be driving the beater car more than the TL and that was just stupid to me. Made 38000km in a year and 4 months.

I am on the look out too but there is nothing out there that I like. PPL are more into JDM imports and riced out civics out here so it's hard to find wheels for cars like ours

Take the car back and have them install moleskin. Ive seen a lot of good reviews about that stuff-and it's cheap. Mine are all scratched up too. You can search for threads about it

Btw, Props to being from Calgary!!! I got a bunch of family up there. Its a great city!!!! Is the city still expanding outward? Last time i was there a few years ago, ppl were expanding into the suburbs since theres soo much land. A lot of home building out there.

What does the Aspec kit ad exactly? Ive already got an aftermarket trunk lip.. I was researching Aspec kits Vs. Stock TLs.. Couldnt tell much of a diffrence, especially for price.

Yeah, love Calgary! Chinooks all winter, and summers that get too hot but can snow at random days to cool it off Yeah city is expanding epically outwards, a lot of new communities and construction everywhere!

a-spec kit is just a lip kit all around. Look through picture section and you will notice it. there are group buys for it all the time. It's 775$ US and shipping to us in Canada is about 240$ (what I got quoted). And coils can be bought from vendors on here. Heeltoe, excelerate... and ebay too and any shop can install coils but knowing Canadian mechanics, labour is gonna be around 300$ (what they told me). I did mine myself with some help from friends dad. And you will need a wheel alignment after too

Just drop it! I've lived in Alaska and have been plowing snow for the city for 15 years now. Stock rims are great. Just save up for what you want. They have a lot of sidewall on them, but if you drop, stock rims look really good. Just remember, less gap than sidewall, and you can't go wrong.

I wouldn't go from 8" wide wheel to 7.5" wide wheel, it just feels like downgrading to me. But if you like them then go for it. They should fit. Go test fit them, the guy is local to you

Yeah, probably going to pass on the tires.. Dont want to sacrifice ride quality. I have Navigation in my car.. But its the Canadian navigation.. I wanted to hack it, but i cant find any hacking on the Canadian navi version..

I was looking at isimple, but the car does have an aux port.. How much difference would i notice with the isimple other then the names being displayed of the songs? Can i control ipod from steering wheel with isimple? Plus i burn alot of mp3 cds.

<--- Born in Calgary

Best things to do on a budget to improve the vehicle's aesthetics (my personal goal over performance enhancements):

1. Tint windows (sounds like you've already gone down that path)

2. Subtle drop. I can see where spending a few extra hundred dollars on coilovers could benefit you during the snowy season. Otherwise, if ride height adjustability isn't a desire, then a good set of springs will suffice.

3. A-spec body kit. If you are really strapped for cash, you can look at picking up just the front lip and some pre-painted rear mudguards. I think that combo looks decent, especially with that drop I mentioned.

4. Wheels. Not a necessity, but an option that will set your car apart from the rest. I wouldn't go larger than an 18" wheel, but 19" wheels are all the rage on this forum and do look great, although I understand ride quality will suffer from a larger diameter wheel.

5. Fuzzy dice. Just because.

Good luck with your car!
