Lost Keys/Replacement Keys

I was out jogging earlier yesterday with my keys hanging from my hip. I usually put my keys on a shelf in my garage before i leave, but due to me being stupid, i forgot to put them on the shelf and went jogging in the dirt hills and roads near my home. I come back.

I look to the shelf, they are not there. I looked everywhere to conclude i had lost them on a trail. I have the other FOB, but my other keys also had my house keys on them. I did a half search of the area today but since its so hot, ill continue later this afternoon.

Question is, how much is replacement FOB and Key for the TL if i don't find them...

you're nearby, lost key, anthracite TL

j/k

call up the dealer. they may have to change the chip out of the car so that the old fobs won't work anymore. not sure if they can program new keys for you at the dealer or if it's a special order but i'd get it done ASAP

BTW, why didn't you roll to the Pasadena meet this past weekend. i sent you an IM about

The transmitter will cost $84. There is a different transmitter for memory #1 and #2, so get the right one.

The key will cost $42, but the programming is estimated to run about $80 as long as you have the other key with you, which you will. If you didn't have the other key for some reason, I hear it's up around $200-300.

The instructions for programming the remote are in this thread. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89492

Click here for the parts list.

Thanks Ron for the information. I looked and traced back my steps for 4 hours and could not find them. Someone must of probably picked it up. Sigh. Ill try again and look tomorrow, but if not..I might as well just get a new set of keys.

Learn from my mistake, dont lose em!

I just lost my keys as well. I called up to get an estimate in case they don't turn up (which it doesn't look like they will), they quoted me ~$180. Seems pretty close to the numbers Ron quoted.

This was Acura of Cleveland service department.

I recently purchased a 2003 TL and it came with one Key and one Remote. I have been reading and looking around and I am likely going to purchase one on ebay. My primary question, however, is in regard to the Entry Remote. I realize that the codes have to match up on the back on the Remote. Mine are worn though. Is there another way to get this code, maybe on the car itself?

One the Remote:
FCC: E4E ...the next character is either a G or Q...and after that there isn't anything left
The other code below is G8D-44 ...after that there isnt anything either

I guess i'm hoping that this is enough to decipher the full string. Thanks!

My guess is that you have to purchase two new remotes rather than just the buttons.
Check out AZ vendor "WholesalePartsGuy" @ Prestige Acura, 707-578-3960 (kcunningham@hanselauto.com), "Acuraoemparts.com" or maybe e-bay.

You may find more specific info about the remotes and the interior parts in the 2nd gen. RL forum at: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/.

Welcome to AZ.

You just bumped a thread from two years ago... in the wrong car section.

But seriously, it should say on the lower portion of the fob if it is Memory 1 or 2.
