Talking Looking for reputable tint shop in Northern VA

I got my last car done at Ziebart and they did a horrible job, it took more than a month for the bubbles to disappear. Any recommendation is appreciated

I agree, Drivendynamics is the place to go, i got my TL tinted there N i was very pleased with the job, great people, nice waiting area n good price. Nova_G is not 140 is 179.00 for metallic, the ceramic cost more something around 2ish. You should check them out i know is a drive from VA but is worth it, I didnt have no bubbles at all no problems so far either...Good Luck

Which film is better

I got a quote from drivendynamic 179.99 for premium 3M Scotchtint
FX -High Performance window film, but they recommended M Color-Stable line for 249.
Does any of you guys experience problem with the metallic film, cause I really don't listen to radio at all, just the nav function

The drivedynamics place. Do they completely do the quarter window in the rear doors? i.e., do they fit it under the thick weather stripping / molding? I've seen places that don't and it looks horrible.

from what my guy told me the other day while he was tinting mine, the lazer cut tints will usually not be fit under the weather strip, just the way the program is I guess?? It is damn simpe to do it properly though, the tint slides easily under the molding and into place

i called around yesterday trying to find a good tint place, apparently all the place around NVA don't do mole skins and real fuzzy about how scratch resistant their films are. I really want to tint my windows but at the same time don't want to replace them when they're scratched up.

not sure where you are in NVA...but Fresh Designs in College Park, MD I know for a fact tints with quality, gives you a life time warranty, and does the whole window, even with the dots on the top.

I've gotten several of my cars done there

i know if you go to Express Tint in Centreville Va, they did an excellent job on my 06 G35 coupe. now that i've wrecked it, i got a 08 TL Type S. its bit expensive but could haggle the guy for 200 cash instead of 260.

Angry

I took my car to Express Tint in Centreville because it has the best pricing $219 and distance (LA tint 369). Overall, I pretty piss off with the job they did, on the rear windows, they did not completely cover the quarter windows, there is 2 inches gap. When i complain, they refuse to remove the door panels and said that they will tint it only if i were to take the glasses out and bring it to them. Does any of you run in to this problem, which place does a complete tint of the rear doors

You need to know this !

I'm in California but one thing from experience I should share and that is with my TL, the idiot that put on the tint, did not use the "felt strip" against the window frame. W/o this stuff added, you will soon have vertical scratches in the film and by then it is ruined. So, whereever you go, make sure the felt strip will get added.

Good luck

According to most of the tint shops around nova felt strip is not needed, they said that it will cause the windows motor to burn out

I looked closer at the 3G TL gallery and notice that quite a few people got a same problem as well. I guess it's pretty common like the tint guy said. But it still bug me though, wonder how much the dealer charge to remove the two rear windows and reinstall it

find a competent tinter and you wont need to remove the glass. the tint will slide right behind the molding without any problems.

My guy does all 5 windows for $160....but doesnt do moleskin. No big deal as I had some at home that I never put on my last car. I go to put the passanger window down for the first time and put the moleskin on.....and I can hear it as the window goes down, big fuckin scratch halfway down the window

lol. The primary function of using felt is to reduce the amount of friction placed on the glass so it doesnt scratch.

btw, dont let them cut your rubber window blades off to prevent scratching either.

put the felt on yourself, take the door off to do it.

wouldnt it be easier to leave the door on the car and just take the pannel off?

hehehe, I bought a pre-cut kit and moleskin on line and did the side windows myself. Then took to LA tint in manassas and they did the rear. Very happy overall.

Fradulent Auto Tinting

Just got windows tinted by Diaz tinting. Says he's located out of sterling but no address was given. Horrible tint job then the guy basically disappears.
