So after waiting around staring at my key for the last four weeks I have to fly to Dallas tomorrow morning due to a family emergency. Was looking forward to meeting other TSX owners too. Hope all goes well for everyone.

Exclamation Earlier in morning???

Guys I understand that this has been planned out in advance and all, but is there a chance for this to start earlier, like 9 or at least 10 in the morning??? This is crucial to me!

I kick myself in the ass for being absent and not jumping on this earlier so that I could sign up sooner and be one of the first.

I had no luck finding a competent locksmith locally and didn't have time during the week to look for more so I kinda gave up on the key for a while. The dealer is the last place I'll go to based on previous very fun experiences with them.

If I come I'll possibly bring some stuff I can't use now, like stock wheel/tire, Rotora slotted rotors front/back ( I recently went up a size and got Rotora BBK 2 piece 14" fronts and 13" rears- total overkill I know ) and more, anyone interested in any of these?

Thanks
George

It should be 1ST COME, 1ST SERVE. If you want to get it done early. Then show up early. It's only fair this way.

You don't want to roll up at 2:00PM and say "Yo, I was #7 on the Acurazine list so get out of my way"

George,
I do not know if we are going to do it early but I doubt it. We had this event set too early to change it now.

I am bringing in a tabulated sign up sheet with name, car(model, yr, color), number of keys, sign-in time.

Most likely I will be one of the first ppl to show up. Regardless, the first ones to arrive should start this list then we can expand on it as the day goes along.

Also guys,
we want to be FAIR to everyone. If you want to trade spots on the list after you've signed-up that is fine. However, we cannot let anybody cut in line in front of you b/c that affects everybody else down the list.

Also, after the list is made and the keys are being cut, you should be ready if you are the next person. If you are next and you are no where to be found, then in a short period of time (1~2min wait) we will continue on down the list. When the missing person returns, that person will go next.

One more thing.

There should be One List and One place to update this list.

Let's set this up at the front entrance of Baldinos.

When you arrive at the shop, please make your way to the front entrance of Baldinos to sign up.

Don't be like "Oh I was here 4 hours ago. I just didn't know where the list was."

It would most likely require 2 people to get this list going. One person to oversee the entries in the list at the front entrance, and another person to flag down ppl that are arriving to remind them to sign up.

Understood and appreciated, I'll try to be there as soon as I can then! Hopefully there will be no traffic and I'll be able to erase those 250+mls by flying that left lane tomorrow early morning, see ya!

I just tried my blank in my car. It won't turn the ignition, is there something wrong??

It wouldn't go in the door lock at first, then I tried ignition, went in fine. Wouldn't go into glove box. Not going to force, also I don't use glove box lock. Then tried again on door went in fine. I've had the damn thing for almost a month, guess I could have tried it sooner.

Would have been a bitch, if I didn't try it and drove all the way to WB and it didn't work at all. But is seems that Pete has this down packed.

See you guys in the morning!

JDM, you said there was a Fuddruckers close??

Yes you have to cut the key first. So I will cut the keys and then program the transponders to the vehicle. The transponder is what will allow the freshly cut key to turn on the fuel to the vehicle.

Not really. Sorry been a long day and trust me I have heard dumber things come out of a customers mouth. For example a dead serious question when they walk in the door. Do you cut keys here? How the hell am I supposed to answer that.... lol There have been better ones than that as well but I think you can see what I mean.

Yeah there is a Fudds no more than 5 miles away. So if everyone is down to hit that up afterwards let me know.

THANKS A LOT CHRIS!!! you da man.

We started off with cutting all the keys first, this was done in no time at all, only had difficulty with one poor guy whose key from FLBusa must have been from an early batch which had a defect and wouldnt work, so he went home empty handed

Still cant believe ACTROS came down from NYC just for this! (and told his wife he was just going to the dealer! ) Probably doesnt get many chances to really drive his TL up there though, so I'm sure he made the best of it.

Ran into a minor delay as we were waiting for JDM's buddy to show up with a key to the van which had the key programmer in it, we finally got tired of waiting so he cut a key to the van too bad his buddy didnt show up to help, we probably would have gone a lot faster.

The first car went pretty smooth, but the 2nd car, which belonged to Jeff (JNBnova), experienced some difficulties as Chris couldnt get the car to start with the new reprogrammed key reprogrammed that sucker a couple times without any luck and then realized that you had to pop the clutch in a manual to get it to start sorry bro, I have to give you a little tomato for that one :p

Thanks kennedy for the blue LED door lock mod and helping me install it!

Torwards the end, one guy chimes up that he had an extra mem1 key for sale if anybody wanted it. There were no takers though, and somewhat unfortunately, the poor sod who got the defective switchblade from FLB had left already. DOH

Anyways, it was a good meet, I'm pretty damn surprised this whole thing happened though as I had pretty much written this possibility off after finding out that the new switchblade key had a new laser key blank. I will truly regret selling this car one day as the next owner will never appreciate the rarety and ordeal some of these mods required. (switchblade key, kpm module, ok button hack, cleared headlights, etc)

Somebody took some pictures (of a lot of dirty ice/salt encrusted cars) which I'm sure will be soon to follow.

No problem everyone. It was my pleasure to help out all the great members on this forum. Still feel bad for the one guys key too. Especially since all the other keys worked with no issues whats-so-ever.

Not sure if I want to do another one but if I do it might be the last for awhile. So those that missed out if there are enough of you interested I may be down for 1 more time. Next time it won't take as long I don't think.

Thanks to all those that contributed to the tip jar as well.

TL key cut.... Wifes meds.... decisions decisions. Good choice in which to get first!

Was it Jeff that took that picture?

For those that aren't in the know, I can program your TL key with a discarded BROTHER word processor... that's how good I am.

Wait till I get the pics off my phone (cable's at work). Most club meets I go to have Budweiser spillng out of the trunks, but LeeDog rolled in with Capri Sun spillin out of his trunk.

Sorry I had to miss this - I was on the list (#4), but Friday morning my car wouldn't start (again), so it went in to Pohanka and they still have it... So I am definitely in if you do this again.

Just wanna say that it was my pleasure to meet you guys, the real people behind the screen names and the avatars, what a great bunch and yeah I enjoyed every minute of the long drive ( I finally hit that 17,500 on the odo, haha) , definitely was worth it for me just for the nice high speed drive and the meet alone. Chris you rock man, excellent work on the keys and organizing the event on your day off, greatly appreciated.

Until next time...
