Looking at '07 TL Base

I am from the 2nd gen tl section but i am looking to get a 2007 acura tl with 73,xxx miles on it. Its a AM color. Now i know some of you are going to say get a type s. I my self when buying a car like to have the top model, but i have 02 tl-s right now. My question does the 02-03 tl-s have the same amount of HP as the 06-07 base tl. and what can you tell me over all about the base model. I dont like driving manual because i tend to redline and speed more. Does that mean they are equally fast? I would get a type s but i found a salvage from a friend for 8700 for an 07 tl base with 73k.

yes sadly. I will do anything i can to avoid the dealership and payments. The rear was damaged. no frame damage. He works at an autobody shop. I have good experience with salvage cars.

if you saw what happened to the car and you can deal with it then yeah get the one you wanted but for your FYI if for any reasons your car was total of lost then insurance will give you sh*t when they try to praise the value of the car, and yes I understand some people can afford certain amount of $$$ spend.

if you get the 07...it's not AM...it's carbon gray pearl.

as you will learn...AM was available from 04-06, CGP in 07 and polished metal metallic in 08. all of these were shades of gray available on the 3G TL.

if you can live with a salvage title and everything that goes with it...then...do what you feel is best for your situation. good luck.

yes but comparing both cars how big is the difference in ride quality, interior and so on . I would go to the dealer ship but the 04-08 are sold out at acura and honda.

The 2002 TL-S was advertised with 260 HP and the 2004 TL, when offered was rated at 270HP, same engine as the '07, but because of a change in testing the engine was downgraded to 258 HP, but that would also indicate that the 2002 engine was overrated.

Good price and as you know the shop and the work they do that certainly is a plus, but choose wisely and go over the car with a fine toothed comb.

It's really up to you. If you know what was damaged and how it was repaired then it is a little better than buying a salvage without knowing anything about it. Good luck.

No comparison as far as interior. The 07 and 08 TL's are worlds better than the older 2nd gens. Also, I would recommend getting one that has the navigation as it really changes the interior completely and really "finishes" it. Even if you dont use the nav, it just makes it a nicer car. Ride quality will be improved and the car will be a overall smoother and quieter, but your talking about a salvaged car so there is no telling what thats things been through. It might drive down the street sideways you never know. I do think its cool that you want to pay for the car outright and even though its salvaged, it really could be a great way to get a newer nicer TL for super cheap if nothing else bothers you.

Welcome!

I really like it. Its got a white interior and drives great. but i am having a debate right now with my self. I dont know if having 25 more horses and quad exhaust is a deal breaker for me(had thoughts of getting a tl-s but i think i am getting a steal of a deal on the base.). The car i am looking at does have the navi . Can anybody help me choose? LOL

what's your budget and your wants list? everyone will tell you to get a type-s. if you want it you'll find a way to pay for it, or default on the payments and get it repo'd. if you can't afford a type-s you can wait and save up, or get a base model and mod away. it's your money only you can decide how you want to spend it b/c you're the only one who knows your OWN financial situation.

sorry to revive old post but i found another tl. This one you guys might like (even though its a rebuilt title). Its a 06 WDP tl with aspec suspention and aspec rims. its got 63k miles on it and wait for it... its 6mt! clutch was replaced 2k ago and he is asking 10k for it. Here is the question. he has 245/40/18 tread on it while on the door it says 235's are recommended so when i to WOT it tosses the car around. Is that normal for big and bald tires?

White on black 6-speed? Nice!

The difference in tire size isn't a big deal. I have the 18x8.5 A-Specs and I've run both 235s and 245s with no problems whatsoever.

I have to ask, why do you keep going after salvage title cars?

^ They're probably in his price range.

And the car loses grip cause your tires are bald. Pretty unsafe there.

No problem i can answer that, for me personally my relatives have been screwed by the dealership even though they had "warranty" on the new cars that they bought. So i just started buying salvage. I could care less as long as it drives good and if they have accident pictures but if i dont see how it was damaged than i run. but the biggest con of salvage is the resale value, but then again its a 6mt so that would be a car to keep for a while.

but i am worried that it might have the famous pull and drift problem after reading here. The tl tires are very bald . Could that cause them to be pulling to the left ?

you can always do the Navi conversion later, but I hope you will get a TL that fit you.

If you want a SMOOOOTH ride like a Toyota get it.

But IN MY OPINION I HIGHLY suggest an 07-08 Type-S.

I have owned 3-TL's and I LOVED THE TYPE-S much more
