Question Local Acura Dealership Looking To Buy My TL

I was recently contacted by my local MD Acura Dealership because they "were looking for certified pre-owned TL's" and they could "get me into a newer model with more upgrades for around the same monthly payment I currently have."

I set up an appointment to have them appraise my '07 TL and hear them out.

Has anyone else encountered this and if so, what was the outcome?

lol I think they just want your money. I highly doubt they are looking specifically for 3g TL's If you've been there for service b4 then they have your contact info. They contact ppl in batches because they need to sell cars.

I bought my car from them as well as take it there for service.
I kinda figured they were just trying to move some cars.

My local honda dealer does that too. It just a generic thing that they do. The dealership ppl know my 3g is modded and theres not a chance id trade it in, yet they still call me time to time offering a new accord lol.

+1 i get the same thing over and over after I bring my car in for service even though I repeatedly tell them not a chance in hell I'd sell but its less about your car and more about a sales lead generator for them.

If you have nothing better to do or looking to upgrade its worth a visit but be prepared for a low ball trade

Same thing happened to my GF. Toyota sent her an email saying that her warranty is almost up on her 11' Matrix S & that they could help her out getting a new warranty... on a new car

so let me get this straight.

1. Trying to buy your car in let say $5k then turn around sell it for $13k.
2. Give you so what called good deal then kick you with the interest rate.
3. They won't budge much on the sticker price unless you are finance through them.
4. You can deal all you want in the end they are in the business to make money not to break even.

Coming from someone who has done car sales....

This is a marketing trap.

They do this so they can sell you a car and take your money.
Don't fall for that BS. I've had several contact me with my 06 Mustang GT I had saying "We would love to buy your car and put you into a new Mustang GT for the same monthly paying, there is a high demand for your year model" Bullshit. Nobody wants a 3v Mustang...

It's a way to get you into the dealership so that you can spend a lot of money on a crappier looking car.

I'd call them up and ask them how they plan to certify a 2007, since in order for them to sell a car as CPO, it must be under six years old.

As stated many times, it is just standard marketing. The goal is to get you into the dealer so they can attempt to get you to buy something. Do they really want your car? I'm sure they do...for the right price. But more than anything, they want a new sale.

Now, is this a bad thing? Not really as long as you understand the end goal here and you are actually ready for a new car. I still get letters from Toyota asking to buy my tC back...which I haven't owned since 2008. Acura constantly mails and emails me these types of offers. I respond back to the emails asking if they have something new under $35k with 225HP+ and a manual transmission. Until they do, they need to leave me alone.
