Loaner Confessions

OK boys and girls. Time to confess all your sins and transgressions with your acura loaners to me whats the worst things you've done, lets hear em!

Me: minor driving abuse, got a parking ticket and ignored it (bleh acura gets the notice and charge the cc you leave on file. bet they cant nail you with a camera though)

Try as I might I simply cant put 89 fuel in it though...

I like to think that the way you treat loaners is the way Acura treats your car when its in for service. Never got a loaner though so I wont contribute much other than my dumbshit comment.

I fill them w/ 91, drive them pretty sensibly.....

If we abuse it too much...who knows....it could go away.....

I did drive that 06 TL a/ the Auto pretty tough...but I wanted to see how the auto drove.....

Loaners stay in 1st,2nd,3rd gear exclusively!
Stop light to stop light confrontations are a given and panic stops are a must.

Always hand loaners in with flat spots on the tire and well used rev limiters.

Me neither. There's too much risk of involvement of my insurance company to "drive it like you stole it".

maybe when I was younger I would have beat a loaner, but not now.

In fact, every TL I have been loaned is NOWHERE near as nice or as clean as mine. I usually can't wait to get out of it.

I have even used the garage to house a loaner. that's TLC!

This thread is dumb Lee.

Anybody that abuses loaners is an idiot......

I treat the loaner with the same respect I treat my car, in fact I think I drive my car a little harder than the loaner...

does putting in regular gas instead or premium count as being abusive to a loaner?

Ah, I have done it all. From doing donuts to just plain burning rubber. I even tried to take the NAVI from a loaner one time I put it in my non-navi. I'm pretty sure the dealers wouldn't notice.

Can't stay out of this one, sorry. What a bunch of jerks. Why not treat other peoples stuff better than your own? All you do is bitch about the lousy cars that they provide and then how they overcharge you at every turn. Get a grip. Somebody has to pay for the stuff you tear up. How about acting like responsible adults instead of spoiled bad six year olds? Soon we will all be complaining about no loaners. (End of rant)

I agree... everytime I've got a loaned vehicle from a dealership, I drive it reasonablly.. no different than I drive my own car. It's not mine so I especially take care of it.

Only an idiot would beat the crap out of a loaner "because it's not theirs..."

Oh.. and driving Mommy and Daddy's TL does not mean you can beat the crap out of their TL either...

I read on the Infiniti boards that somebody took a G35 loaner to the local racetrack, and ran a couple 1/4 mile runs. From what I remember I think the guy removed the passenger seat to see if it made any difference.

The guy even posted pictures of him running at the track, and you could clearly see the "Infiniti of whatever City Loaner" on the back window

I would never do something like that, but in the guy's defense, I think he said the dealer wrecked his car on a previous visit so he felt justified in seeing what the car was capable of.

I do that with rental cars all the time. But only because I'm use to the acceleration of my car, and the rentals are usually gutless wonders.

I drive a loaner the same as I drive my own car. Although the last loaner I got looked like it had been through a drive in Bagdad.

Impressive. Most of you have treated your loaners well, good job. Washing your loaner!! wow, now thats showing love. What got me curious about this actually, was that, with gas prices the way they are, and these cars requiring 91+, if people actually topped off their loaners with 89... Has anybody taken their loaner on a long ass trip or even scheduled a repair/service so they can take a loaner on vacation?

I washed my loaner because I didnt want to be seen in such a filthy, disgusting car.
But, with the 150 mile/day limit, I cant see much of a vacation there and you arent allowed to leave the state you get the rental from

The dealer I got my 2G TL from was 130 miles from my house. (I didn't like the 2 local acura dealers). Anyways, when I had my spoiler installed, they gave me an RL as a loaner. Dealer told me it would take all day, and recommended I go to the beach or something, (which was another 80 miles from the dealer). I got back later in the day, and they said they ordered the wrong color. They said instead of having me drive my car back home, and coming back when the correct spoiler arrived, he told me to go ahead and drive the RL back home, and come back the next weekend, even though they expected the spoiler in 2 days. I think in total I put a little over 1,000 miles on that RL that I had for a week.

I took the TSX I got up to Vegas for the weekend. 310 miles each way, 620 total for 3 days. I told them I had a business trip planned up to LA/ Bakersfield that weekend, and they told me to go ahead and take the loaner.....didn't care about miles racked up.

With the exception of using 89, I treat loaners like my own car (sometimes spirited driving, parked in the garage, don't trash the interior, etc.)...oh, one other difference, I don't park a mile away at work (or anywhere else), I take the closest spot available. That's it. And I treat rental cars the same way as loaners.

What I find ironic is people always moan about the condition of the loaner/rental car they get...read some of the posts in this thread...still wonder how they got that way?

Perhaps, with loaners, we'll drive them like normal people instead of our typical paranoid, obssessive compulsive selves? I'll tell you. Its nice not to stress over where to park, door dings, and how close people have parked to you every time you go back to your car. hehe

You know this has me wondering. If you did get dinged, wouldn't the dealer charge you for it?

I'm pretty sure mine would (hasn't happened, but isn't that why they have the CC and Insurance card?).

Just curious.

And my reason for washing the car is the same as Xtin's. It was dirty as hell, and although it was "just" an RSX, I kind of liked it. So I washed it (not with as much care as my own...but hey).

Pohanka give out TSX's as loaners. They are a fun to drive but I won't abuse them. I have cleaned the windows and the interior, just because it was so damn dirty. I've mentioned it to them when I've returned them, the seem to be cleaning them up better now.

I've also found loaner/rental agreement from the person before me. On had ALL of this ladies information. Name, address, phone and SSN. In Va. they use your SSN for your driver license number unless you tell them to give you another number.

I actually called the lady to inform her what I found. Bad timing she was dealing with the death of her Husband. I told her I would shred it up and not to worry.

gotta love the automatic neutral drops, love kicking it to 4-5k rpm then shifting from neutral to DRIVE in the AT, (mind you i have an 06MT) and uhh testing out the brakes to see the difference between that and the MT, and seeing how much fade and wear the brake pads can take, take turns harder, faster...lots of flooring to see the acceleration differences between AC & no AC...etc

yeah I'm a punk kid

Ditto

Can't stay out of this one either.

The abusers are probably the same immature jerks that bitch about getting screwed by the dealerships.

Remember the thread about the kid who traded in a bumb BMW X5 for a TL and got nailed? We never did hear the end of that story.

I wonder why?

In the end, those that give respect, get respect.

P.S. goddamn, Xtin is lookin' hot!!!!!!!!!!

If dealers find that providing Acura loaners becomes too much trouble for the worth, they will go to using a local rental car company. You want an Acura or a Chevy Cobalt?

I usually get 2G TLs or TSX but my most recent time got a 3G TL. The only thing I did was smoke in it and I put some kind of cold on the bluetooth thingy. I didnt know how to work it so I was just doing what the voice told me to do. Other than that treated it like my own

Loaner cars...I treat em like gold. Rental cars....now thats another story entirely. My friend once said there is a reason you should NEVER buy a car that was a rental car like Budget Car Sales...sells for Budget Rentacar......and he says that reason is Michael Benz! Nuff said.

i have a 2nd Gen RL right now as a rental, put 93 octane (no 91 here), washed it and tinkered around with it. So far the only abuse is punching the car to redline a few times to merge onto the highway, testing the brakes and going on an off ramp at 80 (SH-AWD= awesome). BTW welcome back xtin.

Well, my dealer already gives us crappy rental cars and don't worry folks, the dealers will abuse our cars either way. It's actually the punk kids working there that don't give a shit when they pull them around and work on them. Hell, some don't even know how to drive manual.

Anywho let's hit the meat of this post, yes father I have sinned. Although I would not call it abuse, I treated her differently than my own.

Bless me Father for I have sinned, it has been 37 years since my last confession. These are my sins.

Father, twice I have parked close to my work entrance among other cars and yes, even trucks with big heavy doors driven by rednecks named Billy-Bob. Once I put gasoline other than high test in and I also ate a Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich and drank a soda inside of her. And finally father, once, just once I did a ...ah ...hmmm... well....I did a medium burn-out at a light ...she got away from me father.

For these and all the sins of my life I am sorry.

Most of this stuff is OK my son! We all do something, sometimes even in our own cars. Its a question of the degree of mistreatment.
