Lifting points on the TL
I was just wondering where i can put my jack to lift the car up besides the standard points, which would be front, back and two on each side. For example since i have two jack stands and wanna rotate the tires, since my jack plate is to big when i raise the car, no matter which way i position the jack i have no room to put the jack stand. Is it even safe to have the car on two stands, both being on the same side. Basically the car leaning over...

if you wanna rotate your tires your gonna need 4 jack stands to do it safely. On the front there is a cross-member (right under the rad) you can lift the front there and just lift the rear in from the axle. OR just use the spare tire to rotate the wheels
2 Sets of jack stands.
Lift the front, from the center front lift point, put stands under the front side lift braces.
Lift the rear, from the tow hook, put stands under the rear side lift braces.
Remove and rotate tires.
Lift the front, from the center front lift point, put stands under the front side lift braces.
Lift the rear, from the tow hook, put stands under the rear side lift braces.
Remove and rotate tires.
When I rotate my tires, I use to floor jacks and the jack points on each side of the car. I carefully pump each floor jack going from one to the other so I don't stress the frame of the car by twisting due to just jacking up one jack point at a time. Either I do this or I use my four jack stands and raise the car at the front and rear jack points, as shown in post #5 above. The safest and best way is to do what is shown in post #5.
If your TL is a manual, do this in the morning before the sun hits your car or in an enclosed garage so sun will not hit the car, again preferably in the morning.

rotating tires is super easy. I jack up the front side jacking point. but the key is to jack it up high enough that the rear tire comes off the ground too. the wheels are only off the car for like 1 minute so I think its fine without a jack, as long as the jack is good quality and sturdy. I'm sure some ppl would disagree with me on that though. if you really want to be safe, put the jack stands on the rear subframe corner and the front lower control arm. It'll be safe enough for a 1 minute rotation, guaranteed.
Any floor jack recommendations (without braking the bank) that is high enough to lift the rear thru the rear tow hook?
I have a 3 ton Craftsman floor jack and it's at its highest point when lifting the rear thru the tow hook.

Looking at floor jack at costco right now and this one has a maximin lift height of 18 inches- will that be high enough so that the jack stands can go easy on eash side? I got the floor jack from harbor the one that is 69.99 and got home to test it but that one was not lifting the car high enough

My Craftsman 3 ton has a range of 5.5" - 19.75" and I was able to rotate the tires on my wife's MDX. Admittedly this was at the top of the lift range doing the MDX, but was still able to get it done. Absolutely no problem doing this on my TLS and nowhere near the top of the lift range, so I believe 18" should be fine. Others can chime in..........

^ the problem with my TL is that- it is lowered on Eibach springs and front RJ bumper makes it even harder to get the lift under the car and then the lifting range- since it is lowered seems like it needs higher lifting range and vise versa.
