Life expectancy of TL timing belt and/or radiator hoses
I would like to get an idea how long the timing belt last on our TL. I do not have any idea how good the Honda quality is of this critical component. We are covered for 50K but how soon after should we take precautionary measures and do early preventive maintenance on replacement?? As a previous Passat owner I know that their VW timing belts usually "went" between 60-70K. Accesory suppliers usually have to guarantee a certain amount of milage before their parts are being used by major companies. The same question applies to the Acura rubber radiator/heater hoses?! Are they known to last a long time? 6-7 years?? It would be good to know because I certainly would like to carry some spares with me when they can be expected to go out or replace timing belt etc before its too late. Since our TL is rather new and few have many miles on them, maybe we can get some history from the earlier 3.2 model owners. Please help with some feedback, input or thoughts on all this. I am not overly anal but hate to be caught by suprise when a proactive approach can make life a little easier. Thank you all.

The manual says to replace the timing belt at 60,000 miles under severe conditions, but nothing for normal conditions. It is item 4 in the maintenance minder.
Timing belts on Acura products usually can go 90,000 miles before needing replacement.
Other belts and hoses are another story. Since they are visible and easily checked, they should be inspected periodically for wear, aging, cracking, etc.

the timing belt is listed in subgroub 4 in the manual, along with the spark plugs. The car is advertised as 105k miles for the first tune up, so logic should follow the timing belt should be replaced at 105,000.
This is the interval for the earlier model.

I replaced my Honda DelSol timing belt at 95,000 miles, and also did the water pump at the same time, not because it was leaking, but the labor cost to do it at the same time was almost nothing, and replacing the pump later would have cost more for labor than the pump itself......IMHO...just good preventative maintenance.

I used to have a 1990 Legend LS Cpe and replaced the Timing belt and water pump at 125K miles. My mechanic said that the belt was still good and we could have gone another 30K miles. As a preventive maintenance we went aead and replaced it.
