I dont really like driving friends unless its just one in the passenger seat or im picking a girl up for a date hah. For some reason it seems like girls know to respect a nice car better than guys that don't know anything about cars. I also have an excuse for not being able to have a full car of people. wide wheels with extra weight=rubbing lol. My friends use to complain but i just said "hey we can take everyone in my car if you want to buy me a new set of tires from all the rubbing". that shut them up real quick haha

Gas prices have affected my willingness.
Also, whether or not my fiance or I are drinking since she can't drive manual tranny. Sometimes we take hers although leaving an ambiguous responsibility of who will stop drinking and who will drive isn't always a good idea.
Other thing is safety and parking situation of where we're going. If it's dark or small spots or tailgating where people are throwing frisbees and footballs...we aint' takin mine!

I'm the same way I don't really like people in the car, girls/women are different they seem to take better care of others peoples property. When I have my buds in my car for some reason the floor mats are all dirty small rocks mud gets in there after we go somewhere and I'm like WTF I went to same place and my side looks a lot cleaner or I can drive the car for a whole week straight and don't even get it half as dirty if one of my particular friends rides with me. Not to mention the door sills or door panels its like if they skid in to the seat and not get in like a normal person. Don't get me wrong I love driving but for this reason I always drive my old 95 F150 when we go somewhere. For got to mention why do some guys cross their fucken feet when they sit I mean not like a women but lay a foot across and have tip of foot pointed forward. I hate that in my car ends up scratching glove box and back of seats as well. I'm like WTF I don't do that even when I'm drunk in someones car.

The main reason I usually volunteer to drive is because I trust my driving, oh, about one billion times more than I trust anyone else's. I'm not crazy about taking a lot of passengers because I don't want the extra wear on my car but I'm just not a good passenger myself. I try to avoid driving people places in general, but if the chance comes up I usually volunteer.
My girlfriend is my passenger about 90% of the time I'm in the car and I must say she's a great passenger. She respects the fact that I like to keep my car nice and most of the time she falls asleep anyway. Can't beat that!
