"Let's take my car, i'll drive!"
Hey it's no secret that we love our TL. I find myself volunteering to drive my car when my gf or friends are over even when it is not logical. Like my gf's car is outside but we'll take my car from the garage.
Anyone else does this? Want to drive your car more than necessary because you love driving it?
Not good for mileage and with higher gas prices i might think twice now.

While the thought of mileage and wear and tear comes to my mind when I volunteer, I reason that at least I'm the one enjoying putting the miles on. What better than enjoying your car with friends?
It's a waste of a car imo to keep it babied in a garage and drive it so many miles per week.
Drive it and enjoy it.

Haha I tend to do this as well. I don't know if its because myself and my friends like my car or if its because I don't trust my friends' driving ability. When I do drive, people seem to love messing with the stuff in the car, namely the touch screen nav.

i can't say i willingly volunteer my car and me to drive (too much trffic around here and too many stupid drivers). also, remember the parking rules from leedogg?
since my car is a DD i am usually the only one in the car to enjoy it (i guess that's the only thing that counts since i own it).
i'm paranoid when i park my car anywhere. its been hit while parked (b/c the moron who hit my car doesn't know how to pull his car in/out of the spot with ample room). i dont' drive into the city and i dont' street park. so while i do enjoy my car...i have some rules as to when and where i'll drive it.
i really get to enjoy the car when we drive out to bike in the rural areas to get away from the cars. windy country roads...that's where the car gets to stretch out and open up. the fuel issue...eh, it is what it is, bite the bullet. can't do anything about gas prices.

Don't have a 3G, but I find myself worrying too much about my car when loaded with friends, and many of them like to fiddle with stuff and don't particularly give a crap about it.
We'll use my car its fair share, but given the choice I'd rather go out with someone else driving. Usually they don't give a crap about mundane things like door dings and rocker panel scratches.

I like driving my car but generally don't offer to drive because when other people sit in my car they always do shit that makes me upset, such as slamming the doors too hard, getting their footprints on the seats, etc.

Yes I am guilty of this as well. not only do i rack up the mileage M - F for my job ( sales rep ), but i enjoy my car way too much to let my friends drive or drive my Honda Accord. Also with the warmer quarters comeing upon us (spring and summer), I be spending more money at he car wash and time detailing. ( as if I dont do it now)!!!

Most of the time...especially if it's a bunch of girls. Still, if I think there's going to be heavy drinking involved, or going to NYC or Hoboken (mini NYC), then the car stays safe and we use public transportation.
Plus...conversations with cabbies while tipsy are always fun.

jeez what kind of friends do you guys have? :P
I guess since my friends and I are young professionals they know how much money goes into buying a car. I respect their property and they respect mine.

You wouldn't believe the shit people do. I was driving my friend's brand-new Altima with a couple of other guys. One of the idiots decided to step on the centre armrest and slide out the sunroof So glad it wasn't my car.
Let's not even get into drinking/designated driving...

yeah i am normally the one driving because the one friend does not have a license so his car is out of the question
other one has a RSX, not big enough
then the last one just does not like driving his much
so i am normally the one stuck driving, but then again i enjoy driving my car though

I hate driving with people in my car because I can't drive too aggressive without them being scared or sliding from the turns. And I also hate driving a lot because of the shitty gas mileage. Besides, most of my friends drive much nicer cars than my TL, so I'd rather ride with them (X6 5.0, Q5, 335i, M3, M35x, ES 350 etc)

I'm definitely guilty of this. Reasons being that I just can't seem to get enough of my car and my friends love my car as much as I do. Also, sometimes my friends request to use my car when we take trips out of the city cause they like my stereo better than theirs, and sometimes it's the same reason why I want to use my car.
I don't have to worry about my friends messing up my car because they are all conscious about keeping their cars clean and not dinging other cars or slamming the doors.

Wasn't that like 2 years ago?
I volunteer to drive most of the time because my friends seem to take turns totaling their cars. Most are not car guys so it's nothing to get a door ding or curb rash or lay down in the back and prop their feet up.
Most of the time they want to take the Buick but while I'm picky about the TL, I'm crazy and paranoid about the other and insurance can't just replace it like it can the TL.
The crazy thing is I rarely ever have passengers but the passenger side and rear of the car is more scratched up and worn out inside than the driver's side that gets used every day. I even keep cheap ugly black floor mats over the passenger areas because every time I have someone in the car they manage to track oil or mud even if there's none around. I had a chick light up a cigarette one time, that didn't go over well. I took a fat co-worker home one time when his car wouldn't start and the whole time I'm freaking out because he didn't fit in the seat right and I was worried about him scratching the two aluminum strips down the center console that I had just replaced.
For the past few years, one of my good friends has had the Brabus CL65 Mercedes and he either drives it or I drive it. Both of us know how to treat a car so it's never an issue no matter which car we take.

i dont mind driving my car around when i hanging out with my friends. I dont even charge them for gas no matter how far we drive. I dont volunteer to drive cuz I dont want to come off as a "show off" to my friends. I feel modest about driving luxury cars.

I agree. To me, there's no fun in leaving my car outside parked in the street at my friends house period, let alone when I'm not there. Its not like my car is a Ferrari, but I just don't feel good leaving it. And no one ever wants to pick me up as I live a bit away from town. So yet another reason I usually drive people.

I drive my TL about 360miles a week. I will normally cruise the TL Friday/Saturday.
This past weekend, I took it to Hocking Hills which has a bunch of turns. 60-80mph turns FTW. Basically, it was a baseline until I get my sway bars on.
I will NEVER let anyone drive my cars. I have had 4 cars, and I have been the ONLY driver of all of them. Past gf's and brothers have been the only ones allowed IN my car as passengers. Why? Because 90% of my friends don't care for cars like I do (side job as an auto detailer) and don't care what happens to their cars... When you spend 10-16hrs polishing your paint and restoring your leather, you'll understand.

Honestly do this too....But I always think twice when theres people in the back seat. I hate how there seems to be new scuff marks on my light interior whenever people sit in the back. Only time I dont offer to drive is when its for a trip down to the city for a night out...To much risk.
My favorite time to offer to drive is when its a first date. Nothing like picking a girl up in your freshly waxed ride to started the evening off right.
I mean, Acuras arent BMWs or Benz's, but still, I love my TL haha.

No, TLs are better!! I hate take my car out during lunch time, most of my friends and co-workers don't give a flying-f how much time you spend cleaning your car's interior. I rather have lunch at work.

I offer to drive all the time. I like being in control I think, knowing my limits and driving skill more than that of my friends. The only thing that bugs me is when people slam doors. Oh and recently some girl kept playing with the seat movement and messing with my EDFC dampening lol.

i like being in control of the situation, and i like driving my car...A LOT. however, there are boundaries that i will not cross. i don't like driving my car into the unknown, leaving it for long periods of time in unfamiliar locations, or driving with people that are assholes and don't hesitate to "accidentally" mess something up. i also don't like driving when a bunch of us go out for drinks or something, my car will be safe at home in the garage and somebody else can worry about what happens at 2am when the bars close. not me.
otherwise, i'll drive anywhere and everywhere as long as i know i'll get good parking when i get there, and the roads aren't sloppy.
also it's fun to drive with people who have never been in my car before. i tend to have more fun those days bc i'll push my car hard and they are always surprised by the amount of power it puts down...and honestly, so am i. this car is quick for a 4door, and even quicker with the few bolt-ons i have. i can't wait to install the v3 pcds...that'll be icing on the cake.

I have the option to rent a car for mid-range business travel and I will generally pass it up so that I can drive my own car. I feel safer and more comfortable driving my TL-S than a beat up rental car no matter how new or what brand it is. Plus I have a radar detector with GPS and a database of redlight cameras and speed traps hardwired in which makes it crucial for driving into enemy territory!
