LED Turn Signals 1 Color
I know a lot of people here are using dual color led switchbacks. Has anyone used this

Would you have just amber and a brighter amber when you turn on your turn signal?

it depends if your talking about front of rear turn signals. For the front its possible for the rear no way. The front is constantly on and is triggered by the blinker. However the rear is not on, and only turns on when the trigger (the blinker) is pressed.

^That's what he wants, for the front to be like the rear.
And yes, it can be done. There might be a fuse for it...that or just cut the parking light wire. I'm fairly certain this has been covered and is in the garage somewhere.

Yes, it can be done. The simplest way would be to cut the parking light wire going to the bulb (but not the turn signal wire) and then splicing/connecting it to a low watt load resistor with a cap on the empty strand. ......I guess I could waste 3 minutes making a picture of it.......
okay, apparently I suck at sketches and artwork so it took 10 minutes, but here is the basic idea:

I've been eying this bulb for over a year but didn't want to 'test buy' it. ....even though I test bought switchbacks days after they were introduced...
hah, anyway, do you have any day pictures of these on? night pictures would be nice too but I mainly am concerned with the output during intense daylight.

Yeah there is. Just try the 7440 instead of a 7443 bulb. I am pretty sure it will work that way. If anything you might have to just shift the pins a lil. I was going to experiment with this. Just compare the 2 bulbs when you look at them and the position of the pins. 7443 has 4 pins and the 7440 has 2.

anyone try these flasher relays from Super Bright Leds?
http://www.superbrightleds.com/flashers.htm
if so how is the flash rate? stock?

I think the problem with all of the flasher relays is that our cars have a unique plug for the relay; in other words, we would need a custom relay made to fit our plug. There was a big thread discussing this a while back.

rockyfeller, the 7440 (single filament) bulb is a little different from the 7443 (double filament, stock). The 7440 has a little bit different notches on the base area which you would sand or grind down and without sanding it down it fits but not very good at all. The best way to do this would be to break the contact pins on the 7443 bulb base which i have been running for the longest time. With this set up it only flashes amber when you turn and not when the parking light is on. On the 7443 bulb base you will have a total of 4 contact points, 2 of those pins connect to the same ground, the other two pins is for parking and turn signal. Look at the base of the socket and you will see what i mean. There is no way anybody should have to cut the parking wire.

None of those flashers will work. There is a dead thread somewhere about flashers and it has been speculated it is a "can do" mod.....nobody has cracked it yet. We summon all nerds to find a solution for us dumbasses, PLEASE!
Yeah I know the 7440/7443 have slightly different bases but I coulda sworn I have seen someone try it. On the female side of the 7440 harness there are only 2 pins anyways. Even if the other 2 pins stay on the bulb they won't activate. So off with the parking light and signal blinker will act as normal. JCL622 was specifically asking about this so it should work.

i've discovered from leaving my parking lights on when i start the car that the burned out right side signal blinker looks so much sweeter than having it white....yes i could've left some amber in but it looks sooo sweet on the AM to have it all blacked out w/single CFFL's;
rocky u think i should just buy a set and try it out?

I worked on bforbrian's headlights and his switchbacks are now burned out. They don't work in the "white phase" so only his amber signals work. You can see in on his thread with those Enkei wheels. He says he likes them that way. I guess that is the way you like it too...I personally like it switchingback in both colors.
Instead of buying a bulb, just test out my theory first. You can take out one of your rear signal bulbs (7440 bulb) and plug it into the front to see what happens. Then if you like it, just go ahead and buy an amber 7440 LED for the front.
