Any No. VA 3rd Gen Owners used LA Tint

Looking to install FormulaOne Pinnacle (35%) due to Navi, and they said they don't used or install the moleskin. Anyone have experience with these guys on your TL, or who do you recommend and do they install moleskin also? Thanks.

Can't find Tec Toyz auction for White LEDs. Looking for front map, rear dome, and 4 doors. Can someone link? And what is better to use, the 6 LED or 9 LED?

Search for seller "tec_toyz". I did the 9LED, heard they were a bit brighter.

Those are actually easier than replacing the door bulbs.

Hope this changes your mind!

Cheers!

thanks steve. when i checked the service repair manual it listed few big items that had to come off so I didn't even bother to attempt it. I'll give it a try.

921 Wedge 9LED
It looks like you have an 03. Do you know if the 921 will fit the 4 dome lights of the 04?

I believe that is the bulb, but you'd best to talk to Brian at TecToyz for confirmation. You tell him your car and what bulbs, and he'll send you the right stuff.

----------------------------------

No....The 921 can replace these Manufactory bulb Part #'s: 194 , 168 , 158 , 12256 , 12961, 2821, 2825.

04+ TL uses manufactory #2825 wedge easly replaced by 921 wedge.
Okay, let me get this straight for the 3rd gen TL:

Location -------------- OEM part ----- LED part
License plate --------- 168 x2 --------- 921 x2
Map light -------------- 2825 x2 ------- 921 x2
Rear dome ------------ 2825 x2 ------- 921 x2
Trunk light ------------ 168 x1 --------- 921 x1
Front door courtesy - 194? x2 ------- 921 x2

What bulbs are in the center console and glovebox? Which LED will successfully replace them?

Okay, so far brian@tech-toys.com and brian@tec-toys.com don't work as valid email addresses.

I expected the LED to be brighter. I installed the 9 LED instead of the 6 so I can imagine that will be dimmer. It does have a light lavender/bluish tint.

Don't know why you guys want to pay extra $$$$ buying it from eBay. superbrightleds.com is selling those LED for $3.5 a piece. The 921 Wedge LED
will fit on the doors and dome light.

How do you access license plate and backup bulbs? I tried today and didn't have success.

Interior bulbs are very easy.

I just did mine a few days ago.

1. Remove the 11 clips from the trunk lid upholstry.
2. Remove the phillips screw from the handle.
3. Remove the two rubber bump stops from the trunk lid. Pull out on the outside, then slide toward the sides of the car.

Once you have that removed, the backup bulbs should just be a turn and pop. I think it was 1/8 turn, and then pop it out.

The license plate bulbs were a bit trickier, but not hard. You need to squeeze the sides of the housing that holds the bulb for the license plate. The first one will be difficult, the second easy because you'll know how to do it.

Good luck, and if you need more info, check the 3GTL Garage.

I tried license plate light
1. start by pushing left side of plastic lens, it will detach from body

2. Gap is narrow so I had to tilt it to get it out

3. Now you can see two latches on left and right, squeeze it.

4. Push it to the side so it doesn't drop into hole, I would die if that happened.

5. I couldn't put it back in. Remove license plate first for god's sake.

Now i need to go back with wrench and see if I can put it back in.

tsk tsk, you didnt follow directions.

Look above...removing the trunk liner is the most direct access to the bulbs

I can definitely attest to the quality of the LEDs.
First mod I did for my TSX was swapping out the interior lights with blue LEDs from TecToyz and I still get compliments on it... most people ask if the car came with the blue lights as stock

I changed out my front & rear domes with the whites and put the blue in the courtesy lights in the doors, it looks awesome. Brian is excellent to deal with.

I am having trouble getting access to the vanity lights. I tried pulling on the covers, but I was afraid to go full force and screw something up. Does anybody have a tip to get to the vanity lights? Thanks!

When I pull the center console and glove box lights out I get the entire assembly with the wires, housing, and white cover. How do I get access to the actual bulb?

Twist the harness away from the white housing.

Harness should pop out with bulb in it.

Thanks- that did it. I was using the wrong approach until you said "twist".

Unfortunately the bulbs are slightly longer than the stock bulbs- just enough to make it a bear to twist back on. I got the glove box done but the center console bulb broke on me.

Tomorrow I'll attack the license plate bulbs. What's the easiest was to pop off the black clips that hold the trunk lining? I tried for a few minutes and didn't get anywhere.

Also, any word on the easiest way to do the vanity lights?

I filed it down a tiny bit and then it fits.
the round clips can be popped off with a knife...the long ones slide towards the inside

simonsez,

I switched out my license plate lights also with the white LED's but they do not look really white. They actually look a little violet.. Is yours the same? I wonder if Brian accidentally sent me the wrong bulbs.
