LED experts enter question about LED FOGs
so im gonna get some h8 LEDs for my fogs. Just wondering if they have a higher SMD does this mean its going to be brighter? or no?
if you have any recommendations of which ones to get please let me know...I looked at v-leds but for some reason they dont have any?

I have LEDs in my fogs. They are purely for cosmetics becasue the output is not for driving. They are bright to look at, but are not very functional. I consider them as DRL....just there for other drivers to see you versus you seeing them.

^^^ I have LED's in my upper fogs as well (05) model....since the OP wrote H8, it was automatically presumed he was talking about lower fogs....
can you post some pix of your setup ?

I'll have to get some more pics with just the fogs. They are wired to a separate switch that's only operable if the parking light switch is on.
Just installed Vled http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-B...22473-1-2.html and they are nice and ice white for show of course. They go nice with my Phillips Ultinon 6k DS2 which I purchased on Ebay for $99.00. Like they said good for DRL's but I agree if you need some light rays then go for the HID's. Be careful as I read (in HID planet) putting HID's in a foglight assembly may cause some damage to the reflector housing so I opted to use these leds.
Most road bike lighting is LED now, amazingly bright and extremely light.
This is a single LED helmet mounted light:

I don't see why they won't eventually be replacing automotive lighting. Less heat, less energy draw.

I don't ever see LED head lights replacing HIDs or Halogens. Reason being is because LED lights are only directional unless you have a lot pointing all different directions. Not only that, but LEDs are less bright than halogens / hids when it comes to lumens output.
LEDs are vibrant in color but in no way are they brighter in comparison

Damn 1000 lumens is alot for a single LED. I have a tactical flashlight the size of my palm that uses 1 LED and puts out 200 lumens, id sure as hell would like a 1000 lumen one lol.
Just curious, how much do those bike helmet lights go for?

The helmet light I have cost $240 three years ago (180 lumen), since then the prices have come down.
Magicshine has a 900 lumen bike light that costs less than $100.
The Lupine Betty 7 (the new 2600 lumen one) isn't cheap but it puts out daylight in front of it.

You also have to check the LUMEN and the Spectrum....
Just as an example the new Audi's are using the LED headlights....they are brighter and use less energy
