Lightbulb LED Door Sills

I am not at all making this thread to bash on anything / anyone... I am stating my experience with the door sills I purchased 6 -7 months ago.

When I got them the first thing I did was powder coated them with in 2days, and then installed them on my TL and all worked fine for 4months or so.

About a month ago I noticed my front driver "right side LED" goes in and out, some days I can open the door and its fully lit, and on other days it will be off and only half of the sill glows... I was pretty sad by this as I love the lighting at night. So I started filling around on top of the sill and as I added pressure I figured the copper plating must not be making full contact to the one LED for whatever reason, most likely due to wear and tear of washing the sills. “I have yet to fix that one”

Just the other day I was washing my car as I went to vacuum the rear seats I noticed the right rear door sill was 100% out. Seeing as I like all my stuff working I stopped vacuuming and started to trouble shoot. Power was good, wiring was good, door switch was good, "LED's where done".

So now I am thinking to myself well why can’t I just mode these bad boys and add some more LED's while I am at it? So that is exactly what I’d like to do now, I will use some good ol flat wire, rather than the exposed copper plate “Which breaks pretty easily” As for LED’s I am not sure where to find some good deals so I figured I would ask you guys that little bit.

When I order the LED’s I will gladly write up a DIY on modding the existing door sills using flat wire and more LED’s rather than just the two.

Anyone else have these issues?

I don't think too many people have LED door sills. But you may be able to find what you need here:

I had the same problem as you. While vacuuming my car I noticed my passenger side rear sill was out and I troubleshooted numerous times and all connections were just fine. Turns out the LED died. I PM'ed "SuperComputers" and he sent me a replacement about a month or so later.

I wasn't the only one with this exact same problem. About 1 or 2 other members also had a problem with their right-side rear sill dying. I'm pretty sure he sent them replacements when they notified him.

Easiest thing to do is read up on el tape at lightape.com that's where I bought mine. Yes mine are stock 07-08 sills. They are custom using the original sills.
They cost more but I like the results

mine are custom cut out as well, with red EL tape under it, paid some good pennies for them but I love the finished look!
In pics they look more orange cause of the EL light change in camera lens, but in life they solid red.
