Lease rate...

I just leased a 04 TL Black/Ebony/Navi w/Rear Spoiler & Front Lip for $462.50/mo with $2000 down (no trade-in).

It took a little haggling, but the residual is pretty favorable.

Newbie question here...

I don't know much about leasing but what would be a favorable residual and why? Do you plan to buy the car at the end of the lease?

According to your figures that's almost 60%
and why is anything changing after december 1-st ?
lease is based on several things, two of which are not controlled by you: Money Factor and Residual Value.

On December 1, 2004 Acura is lowering the residual value currently at $19,585.00 in NYS (New York State). It is antisipated it will go down 1% causing the lease payment to go up accordingly (approx $10.00/month-from $399.00/mo to $409.00/mo, with $895.00+NYS tax on a 42 month lease 15k mi/year, stock non-navi). This is the fact- call any Acura dealer in NYS and ask them and you will see.

Rock Dog: I leased from Jeffrey Acura in Roseville. The salesmen at Suburban in Troy were @ssholes, and I left after quite a heated discussion as to why they were charging $1000 OVER sticker for the first 7 04 TL's they received. The guys down at Jeffrey were much better to deal with, even though they screwed a couple things up at delivery (which led to them also having to pay my new plate cost = $183.00).

By the way, my lease is 42 mo/15k yr.

After one week of ownership, I must say that I love this car more each day. I have been looking at new houses lately, at it is nice to just get the address from the real estate agent & let the Navi take over from there. I have absolutely no complaints yet about this vehicle, and I am extremely picky about my cars.

Note: If anyone ever has any issues dealing with dealerships over warranty issues, let me know. I work for a major automotive supplier in Auburn Hills, Michigan that supplies Tier-1 to every automaker worldwide. I manager all OEM & aftermarket warranty tracking & analysis for my company, and I know all the dirty little secrets (as well as some good ones) that dealerships have when it comes to warranty work.

gregory28 - that seems like a GREAT price - $453 per month with no down payment. How many months is your lease?

Thanks.

Where did you hear that? You are quite mistaken, my friend. The rates are good until December 31, 2003..

Manhattan Acura- the rate (money factor) will stay the same till February 2004. BUT like I said a bunch of times the Residual value (the buy-back value at the end of the "lease" balloon) of the TL at the end of the lease will go up on Dec 1st. Call Manhattan Acura and deal with them, im just reporting what they told me. I'm still waiting for my 6MT due to be built 11/23-11/27.
This applies to the deal I have on a 6MT stock without Navi for 42 months 15k miles per year $399.00/ month $895.00 +8.5% tax down.

Are you not a salesman or dealer? I have read some of your other posts. So what is the deal with the residual/MF is it going to last a while or not? What about outside of New York?

Thanks in advance.

What was their problem Nicki? I'm trying to decide between them and Manhattan. I've heard a couple of nightmare stories about Manhattan from top mechanics at the Honda dealer 2 blocks up 11th Ave who bought MDX's from them. Please feel free to send me a Private Message if your story is too graphic for prime time here.

I did, last night at Cerritos Acura. I really wanted the White with Navi and Quartz interior, and they were the first to come up with one. A very nice salesman named Daniel worked with me, but I had to really concentrate and use all of my sales negotiating skills to make this deal happen directly with the GSM. There were two other salesman with customers who wanted the car and would have paid more.

$2000 down, $470 per month + tax, 48 month lease, navi, mud guards, wheel locks, trunk tray, residual around $17,695.

AcuraAddict - well I would say you got raped by the dealership since you could have leased that exact same car for 42 months and gotten a payment of about $470 a month with 6 less months.

As far as residual goes it is about right for a 48 month lease which is why the 42 is the way to go.

True - I was including PAs 9% sales tax in that on a 6MT navi/15k car. At 12k and non-navi you should be at under $400 easy.

O.K. Well, I guess you guys made your point...this is a pretty tough room. I thought I got a great deal. I'm paying $65 more per month for my '04 than I was for my '02 Type S.

Maybe its harder to get those deals you are describing in Southern Cal. I don't know. I thought I did my homework pretty well, but perhaps I did not do so well.

i was hoping your dealership gave good deals on the 04 TL's. I'm gonna try seeing what deals i can get at Valencia Acura, Keyes Acura, or Acura 101 West

Are you happy with the deal and the car you got?? If so then who cares if you pay a little more than someone else on this board, as you are the one writing the check every month.

Hell there is a guy that I work with that is paying over $600 a month for a POS Ford Ranger. But he is happy so how can I mess with him about it.

Just my 2cents

I am going to be getting a 04 tl non nav 2k down 42 month lease 15k a year for about 405$. I am gonna get 500 off sticker. I told my salesperson I am not gonna pay destination since the car is made 20 miles away.

Every state is different. In NJ there is a $550 bank fee. Using Honda Leasing has gap insurance included which is key, many leasing companies don't do this and offer less favorable residual values. Document fees are on every sale or lease, motor vehicle is likewise.

I don't why someone in NY is paying tax on the entire cost of the car, in NJ it's tax on the 42 month cost.

When you people are putting $2000 down, does that mean you're actually paying all the other fees; MV, docs, bank and making a first month payment AND putting $2000 down. If you're putting any money down other than the absolute minimum on a lease you're making a mistake. It's a smaller monthly fee but it makes absolutely no sense. The objective to lease is pay the minimum up front cost so you can use your money for other activities- investment ideally.
