The Last Straw....
I see... maybe I should have been a little more specifc....that was a vent against those that gave me a hard time and blamed the problems and shit on me..... their attitude was one that the car is not the problem I was and my dealer was..... I won my case because that was not the case..... and I am so confident that they are supporting a lost cause and that they will one day realize how I would have been in their shoes a couple months ago by wholehartedly supporting the TL from bashing but that all changes once you go though what I did and what you are currently going through.....I just relized that executives high up in Acura even blame their slide in quality on the 3rd gen TL!.....I truly do feel sorry that you have problems, after all.... I went through the much same thing....
My dash was fading too, but after I applied the AUDI interior protection which belongs to my A4, it never happened again. I just used it once, and it has never faded again for 2 monthes already. Now my interior is soo damn shine.

Trance....oh because you were one of the ones who joined the clan intent on disproving my problems and blaming them on me? just cant cant stand it because thats not the case...and you guys got proven wrong. That post was directed at people like you and not redsox
But...I dont blame you or Benz, you wont realize it until you have problems of your own down the line
Hopefully you wont but I wouldnt hold my breath on it

There is something different about German cars, though admittedly not everyone can perceive it. They put their money into different parts of the car.
The TL's a great value in other areas. You can't get that kind of power and technlogy without paying a serious premium on an Audi or BMW. But IMO, the fine people in this forum are really the best thing about the Acura TL. Next to that, I have to admit I'll take the German car every time.

Personal experience:
Maxima made in Japan 5 year of ownership:
Number of rattles =0
Number of any other problems =0
TL made in USA: 1 year of ownership:
Number of rattles =10 and keeps growing...
Number of any other problems =0
It seems that I figure out why some people rate TL very high:
They did not expereince quality of goods from Japan, Germany, GB, Norway etc.
I prefer not to hurt someone's feelings about this country. I just exposed my thoughts.

Im not trying to disprove anything. Another reason why I think you're an idiot.
I hear rattles in my car right now. Nothing big, you dont see me on here whining like a fucking school girl about it do you?? I just dont make a BIG deal out of LITTLE problems. I could care less if my ass leaves a print in my leather seat. I didnt take out a pair calipers and measure the alignment on my trunk. I have already started to treat my dash and so far so good, but if and when it starts to fade I will deal with it then. You will not see a thread on how much I am starting to hate my car because of this. I will post my concerns in problem and fixes. You have become counter productive and you do nothing for this forum. I have no respect for you and never will.............its time for you to go...

I know that personally I have had less fit and finish issues with every single car I've had before the TL, short of a Pontiac Grand Prix.
My Jeep doesnt rattle as much, my vette doesnt rattle as much, my previous infiniti was nearly flawless.
Not only that but I received/receive quality service from the other brands, I do not with Acura.
I can tell you that the style of this car and the features are awesome, it's just too bad there isnt an infiniti or lexus badge on the car, that way we'd be getting much better service.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain why I bought a 40k car and get offered a pontiac vibe as a loaner, and when I dont want a peice of shit I have to pay for it. THAT IS NOT A LUXURY CAR COMPANY, THAT IS A JOKE.

First and foremost this is an open forum about a particular car, one may come here and post about their problems that THEY care having with the car, and hopefully someone will be able to either relate, or relate a fix to said problem.
We're all supposed to be able to help eachother.
Everyone has problems, almost all cars have some sort of problem during it's lifespan whether 1,50, or 100k miles YMMV.
Also we shouldn't be so quick bash (unless they are trolls and truly deserve it).
Some will have more problems with their cars than others.
Like Trancemission, I don't sweat the small things, although they may bother me, and yes, I may post about them, but doesn't mean I'm doin an "I hate my car, Acura sucks" because that one particular case may not apply to other Acura models or other cars of the same model.
If a problem like the Fading dash (for example) really is an ongoing problem for a great deal of 3rd gen owners, then yes, something should be done. I for one am very anal about the presence of my interior, people don't ride on and stare at my bumpers for 30 minute trips, So I can attest to those who are making a big deal about it.
All I can say is that if your Acura dealer will not address your concerns, then by all means, find another dealer, or trade up, because having a non caring dealership is like walking around in wet clothes in an air conditioned room, no one likes it.

I do not have a problem if the tires wear out in 25,000 or the brakes have to be replaced at 40K. But it seems the 3G TL set up is eating through more tires and brakes than most other cars. That is not to mention several other issues. It will be interesting to see how well the 06s are made to address the issues that people have experienced with the 04/05s.
I guess I'm lucky because my '04TL 6mt has had "0" problems. No rattles, no dash fade although I use 303 regularly and keep it indoors out of the sun. The stock tires are history and I'm running PS2's now. I really love this car and wouldn't trade it for anything I could afford at this time. I've had 4 Acura's and never had any problems worth complaining about. Legend, 2001 TL, 2002 TLS, 2004 TL6mt. I loved them all. I'd probably still have the Legend if it wasn't involved in a serious accident. The 2001 was great...I just wanted the S model. The 2004 TL was purchased simply because of the styling and 6mt.

you are the reason this site is here....
Here is something interesting for everyone from CR...
This pretty much sums it up for people... lol
Love is myopic (if not blind)
Every year, shortly after we publish our reliability survey, we hear from a small number of subscribers who want to let us know how reliable their particular car is, despite what our survey said about it.
We suspect that we’ll hear from the lucky owners who haven’t had much trouble. Our 2003 survey showed below-average reliability for the Subaru Baja. But a Virginia owner of one said, “I love my Baja as my wife loves her 2003 Forester. I have owned so-so vehicles in my life, but I put my Baja up there with my first car, a used ‘50 Plymouth.”
We’re also surprised at what some readers consider “reliable.” Philip Salley, of Del Mar, Calif., told us that his Corvette was the most reliable car he’d owned in 40 years. Even so, he had replaced brake rotors, the muffler, an air-conditioner control, and a wheel bearing--all within the first 44,000 miles.
Then there are the people who seem to like their cars--even ones with subpar reliability--because they attract attention. For example, Robert Tureaud, of Taylor, Texas, who owns a Mini Cooper, said, “It has run flawlessly since day one, the fit and finish is excellent, and everyone wants to know all about it.”
Bernard Swiecki, an analyst at the Center for Automotive Research, in Ann Arbor, Mich., says: “There’s an enduring belief that any initial problems will go away, especially if the car is perceived as cool to begin with. Some brands just have a mystique about them.” Case in point is the Volkswagen Touareg owned by R.J. O’Connor of Parker, Colo.: “When it’s running properly, it’s great to drive. But it’s been back in the shop at least seven times and sometimes I want to drive it off a cliff. I still love it, though.”

I love this car, I hate the lack of service and the lack of professionalism by Acura. That about sums up my problems.
I wish that there was an infiniti badge on this car because if that were the case I would get service and problems fixed.
I take my car in and they cant fix anything. It's very irritating to hear rattles all day, headliner, dash, passenger seat, windows. What's even worse is when you have guests in your car that tell you that their window is rattling. (The car is not even 6 months old)
There, in itself, is the problem. NO SERVICE, NO LUXURY CONCEPT. The fact that my warranty work loaner was a Pontiac Vibe tells you that Acura has no idea what they're doing. No matter if I had an appointment or not, I always received an infiniti loaner or a jeep loaner. I didnt spend 40k to drive a pontiac vibe loaner with no options. I can tell you that if I could service my vehicle at infiniti I would want to keep it, hence I dont.

Here you go. Out of 27 threads I think like 3 arent "I hate my Acura".

Redsox, I can only hope that Acura fixes the issues you have with your TL.
Might I suggest you taking it to David Mc David in Plano. I take mine to a guy named Bob Johnson. He is one of the reasons I have returned to buy another acura. You can ask anybody in our Dallas thread about Bob. He will help you. Good luck my friend.

I agree, you should not be having these problems with your TL. That said, it looks more to me that you should seek out a different dealship / service center. I am not excusing the issues you report, but if you are not getting satisfaction with the Acura center you currently are using, I would certainly go elsewhere. I am happy with my dealership and with a phone call, my Service Advisor makes an appointment when an Acura loaner can be offered to me. It is a cooperative effort. So I cannot agree with your No Luxury, No Service statement. I do agree it may be an issue with YOUR particular dealership.
That said, I can tell you all of the issues you point out in your TL are similar to a new Lexus GS we have in the family. We only have 2 Lexus dealships here in Tampa Bay. One was not responding to the issues as well as we expected. So we went to the other. It was more responsive and 'premium' in the way we were handled. But still the GS has rattles, a creaking seat, bubbled headliner and a warping dash. I guess they second dealership is just making us feel better about it,,,lol.
I think we cannot expect perfection from our machines. But I agree how we are treated comes into play on how we cope with these issues. If that dealership is not supportive, go elsewhere. If no Acura dealships meet ur satisfaction, then by all means make the dealership experience a big part of your next selection & purchase (I do).
I think problems are a fact of life. Some more than others. But I also believe addressing these situations is not absolute. It think it is as much our responsibility on how much we compromise as to how much is offered in resolution. If that balance is not being met, you alone are responsible to take action as to what makes you happy. You have a choice to go elsewhere, whether that is another dealership, another car or to accept some of the flaws and be happy.
DITTO.
Well, so I took my car to Acura to talk to the DPSM about the dash fade. My appt was for 10. He was running late and said he would be in at 10:30. By 11 am he still was not there. The dealership's service manager was so embarrassed and couyld noit even get him on the phone. Have not gotten a call from the DPSM explaining the "blow-off" or apologizing.
Acura TLC my ass - more like Acura arrogance. I am writing a letter to ACS (worthless group but will get it out of my system).
I am so tired of the lack of customer service displayed by corporate Acura. My dealership is fine but once you kick it up, forget it. Next year, I will be trading or selling the TL.

If enough of the people on this board with multiple, chronic problems are able to get to arbitration, I think Acura and ACS will totally change their tactics. Arbitration will be way to costly and negative for them.
The mere mention of Elmer's arbitration success (and hopefully others to follow) to an ACS rep could be enough to get their attention!
So Elmer, we're waiting....Please give us a good write-up!! Maybe the mods will make it a sticky or put it in the Garage.

I go in tomorrow for the first of many visits to the service department.. I am very interested to see how it will go.. By the way I am going to Vandegriff Acura in Arlington, Texas.. Supposedly it was voted one of the best acura dealerships in Texas, we'll surely see..... I will keep you all updated...

All you did was prove what a dumbass you are and how ignorant you can be. This is only made obvious by the NUMEROUS posts of those saying the same already right here in this thread....so say what you may. And by the way Elmer...whats up with that writing style. Why, because they cant believe that ANYBODY is this friggin stupid that they would continue the way you do given all the feedback you have received. Do you know how to add to society Elmer....?
