First let me say, that this acura line, is one of the best sites, every on the internet, and what really makes the world of cybespace worthwhile.
Because of back injuries suffered in Iraq, I have found it necessary to sell my tl. I have had it for approximately almost six months.
I feel it is a great value in an automobile, and liked almost everything about it, it just wasnt for me. The ride was too harsh, and made it uncomfortable for me. Perhaps if I lived in a more rural area, it would be more pleasant, but as a few people from urban areas have stated, the ride can be a bit punishing.
For the money, I dont think there is a car that can compete with it, when comparing price, performance, and amenities.
I have ordered basically a stock infinity m35x. I know this car is making me dip into my funds for a sizeable check , but the car ergonimically fits me to a tee. And I am not a buyer and seller of a car. If this car works for me, I will drive it till it dies.
I am not impressed with its looks, but I am a tall person, and the headroom in this vehicle is outstanding, plus the awd for nightime winter driving is there.
I find the seats much more comfortable. I was able to test drive one for almost two hours. (Dealership, gave me the keys overnight on a loaner that wasnt being used, as long as I had it back for next day opening of service department)
Plus I have never seen a vehicle, which its suspension absorbs everything in the road, yet you still fee the road like a sports sedan. No floating feeling like the tl on the hiway. It wont take the turns and twists as fast, but honestly, the opportunities for me to do this, are far and few between.
I have learned also, that black cars are a bitch to take care of. LOL. Way too much time, that I dont have. They look great when clean, but a nights worth of dust, makes it look like old furniture in the attic.
I have had to order the m35x, because the dealers are only ordering optioned out vehicles for their showroom.
My acura salesperson, was kind enough to make a call for me(they also own an infinit and chrysler dealership) and convince them to order me, what I wanted. I basically need just the stock m35x, with one or two extras.
I have not yet driven the tl, in the ny winter season yet, but feel a bit better knowing I will have awd. I get the car in three weeks. I was close to ordering the audi a6, but the dealership was so anal rententive. It was like a yuppie convention, or a meeting of apple computer users(no offense meant).
At least the dealerships in manhattan, seemed mostly to cater to young yuppies, who used to buy volvos, but now think audi is the cool car for some reason. Its like they didnt know the car, but like the cook ring design on the hood or something. I cant figure it out. LOL
I wanted a test drive, but they were too busy always drinking herbal tea with potential customers, and seemed like they didnt want to deal with a young guy.
I swear, I felt as if I was at a pep rally for jerry brown or something. What gives with that.
At another dealer, I got to talk to a salesperson, and they all have the attitude, that we only get vehicles fully loaded, because thats what are clients want. "Dont you deserve the best". Unbelievable.
I thought with audi, I would find a drivers type of environmant, but I was wrong. Which led me to the infiniti dealer, which the yuppies are non existant. I found older couples, and young men like myself.
Come to think about it, the bmw, dealer in manhattan, was a bit like the audi dealer. Lots of yuppies, and glam chicks, who were buying an image, not a car.
Sorry for the rant, just my personal observation of some dealers in manhattan. If the managers of this site, would like me to post an update in say two months, on my expereience with the m35x, I will, but if they prefer to stay on topic, I wont. So powers that be, let me know.

So thanks to all on this board, for the wealth of information, that they have provided me, and if there is an infiniti site, that has half the intelligence that this acura site has, I will be elated.

Much regards

You should have titled this thread: Last post as a TL owner."

We hope you won't let the fact that you don't own a TL anymore keep you from visiting and posting here.

We would welcome a comparison thread from you when you have had time to get used to your ******** (Car make deleted by computer lol).

Hope it really works out well for you and you can comfortably drive it and enjoy it.

Good luck with your new purchase. As Ron A stated, just because you won't have a TL anymore doesn't mean you have to leave the site. You are always welcome to post back here and I think a comparison would actually be nice once you have had it for a few months.

Flatfoot, it's unfortunate the TL didn't work out for you. I understand how your situation can dictate your needs as well as the choice of vehicles. As Ron mentioned, there's really no reason why you can't visit and post from time to time. Hope everything works out for you. Best of Luck and please don't be a stranger.

Thank you for visiting this forum. Vehicles with black exterior is indeed hard to keep clean. I owned a black BMW prior to my TL and it was always dirty..
I hope you could come back and visit sometimes and hope your back gets well soon.

You got lucky at the VW/audi dealers, most of them are good at the sale,
but VERY poor in service, and those cars need a lot of service and repair.

My trip to the VW/audi/porsche dealer was great, they gave me my price,
got the car fast, even though it was not on the lot, and did not try
(hard) to sell me anything extra, and did not put their name on the car.

But forget about service, the people working in that department
were either very stupid, or trying to discourage any service there, or both.

That must have been a big loss to buy a new car and trade it in 6 months later? I hope it's worth some ride comfort! Anyway I hope you find a good place to talk infiniti talk! Been a pleasure.

I purchsed the m35x, not the g35. Two completely different ballgames. I checked out the g35 before I purchased acura, like a lot of us had, and didnt nearly like it as much as the tl.
Thanks for all who posted. I will post, one month after receiving new car, and relate my experiences.
Much regards

Actually the infiniti site has more than half the intelligence than this one has.. In the past few years this one while offering tons of information, has degraded to more posts about what to do about common everyday occurrences.
