Possibly. More likely a Radio Shack type of electronics store. Make sure you get some shrink wrap to cover the solder joints.
Soldering is easy---slide on shrink wrap, twist two wires together, solder, shrink, done.
I did not solder my KP module, but I did make sure to buy good quality wiretaps. No problems so far.

Pulled the trigger on these and BOY am I glad....I roll with my windows down EVERYWHERE! This will be awesome to be able to walk away from the car without having to put them up. PLUS...how cool do you look walking from your car as people want to tell you you forgot to put them up.

Great DIY...thank you...wiring was easy and perfect...done in about 15 min.

^^Get 'er done, boy!
Seriously, you cannot begin to appreciate the convenience of this mod until you do it. This is my #1 favorite functional mod I have done to my car. I don't know how I survived so long without it! As rockstar says, the wiring is easy with this DIY. If you use good quality wiretaps, there is no need for cutting and soldering, either.

I totally concur...
this is not complex of a mod enough to warrant that...if I ever had a problem...it would be 30 seconds to take it off and check all connections. If you cut and solder you have to go on that much more of a mission to get it back to stock!

DEF...the best functional mod for your buck...

Don't be afraid...buy the t-taps at any local hardware store...they have them in different sizes...I used 3 red (small wires, sometimes the bigger ones won't cut the shielding) and 2 bigger blue ones for ground and power (fatter wires). I just happened to have both types.

Works like a friggin charm. I can't wait to pull up somewhere and look back in amazement as I walk away and my car ARMORS itself. Lol...reminds me of that movie where the car forms a shield over itself...batman maybe?

It was $53 shipped.
I think I put in Acurazine as my code and it was like 10 or 15% off.

I did not read past the installation steps, but is anybody having issue with the not working? I read the instructions that came with the module and followed this diy to the T. I even soldered my connections. IT DOESN'T WORK!!! No matter how I push the buttons on the remote (slow or fast). I checked and rechecked all connections and made sure it was installed as described. This really pisses me off. I tried installing a fucken Iphone adapter too and it didn't work either. I am not new at mods or electronics. I am starting to think the companies that put out these products have no quality control. I wish they would all die a slow and horribly brutal death!!!!!!

Sort of reviving an old thread, but I just installed my KP roll up mod with the help of FAST4DR's excellent diy....fantastic mod, works perfectly.

Thanks to you, I was able to install in less than 40 minutes, and it was my first time taking the door off.

Just wait until you have used it for a week or so. You will wonder how you ever got along without it!
One of my first and favorite mods to this day.

Me too...I absolutely love it...I really do! And you should see the looks on peoples faces when they see you walk away from your car and they start to tell you you left your windows open and then they just stare in awe. I've had multiple actually ask me wtf it is that does that.

No I haven't. I ordered a new one since I'm at 60k miles anyway, so I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'm also deciding if I should change to GM Synchromesh (or comparable) while I'm at it.

I used the window mod the first time this morning getting to work, and the guy in his car next to me watched them go up!! He looked surprised. hahahaha awesome.

The very first post of this thread tells and shows which wires to tap.

Good write up! I love this mod; it's really convenient rolling my windows up remotely when it starts to rain.

Just wanted to keep the thread rolling here. I got mine a couple days ago and with this write up, easy as could be. I've never done anything like this before and with these notes and pictures I had the door apart, the KP box wired in, and the whole thing back together in about half an hour. If anyone still has not done this mod, do not wait. It's super easy and provides something that I think the car should have done from the factory.

Don't roll your windows up like a chump anymore, get this mod and live it up.

Got the Viper 5301 System installed a couple of weekends ago. Don't know if anyone else played around with it but if you press Unlock on the Viper remote enough times, it'll crack the windows for ya. Same thing with rolling the windows up if you have the KP. Worth tryin out if ya got a Viper.

Has anyone successfully got this item to work in conjuction with an aftermarket DEI alarm? Please speak up. Right now I have the window roll up modules from DEI but I can't close my sunroof and I would love to do that and get rid of the window roll ups.

Anyone???

Your DEI alarm should be able to control the sunroof without any extra parts. Your DEI window modules should not even be needed to control the windows. The DEI alarm should be able to pulse the door lock cylinder wire (not the door lock wire) in the drivers door and do the same thing that the KPtechnologies HM20 does. The DEI alarm should have a "comfort closure" feature that you can enable and, if wired correctly, will allow you to close your windows and sunroof each time you arm the car with no additional modules at all.

Thanks kp for the quick response... but for some reason everyone is saying they can't do it or they say that since the sunroof is on the same switch it will go to the tilt position when being closed. I don't know. I know on the 2nd gen TL's that was a problem but thought it would be different on the 3rd gen TL. I wish I could just find someone who could do it and not someone who wants to experiment with my car.

Does the sunroof close when you use the key in the drivers door lock? I don't remember exactly when the TLs starting doing that.

tried to install today, ran into some issues.

i'm certain i got: (kind of hard to mess these up)
red (factory power-red)
black (ground)

i'm fairly certain i got:
yellow - on the harness physically attached to the door, green/white striped. neither the white/green/grey, but the harness that is under the white plastic.

i'm not certain i got:
blue-

garage walk through says:"Yellow/black stripe (the wire branches off the main thick harness bundle going toward the door lock)"

i have a white/black cable-- when i attached to there, the mod seemed to have worked, but it would only roll up the window for about a second, and repeat the roll up process 4 seconds later. it would constantly cycle through that no matter what, even when the windows were all the way rolled up, or when i didn't even click lock, twice.

i have a yellow/blue cable-- when i attached it there, all the functions of the car OEM work, but the mod doesn't work. it doesn't seem to be rolling up by itself, or doing anything for that matter... that's where it's connected now as i was too lazy to remove it all, i pray it's not secretly draining my battery, i'll find out tomorrow!

anyone have any advice? my next day off is monday and if it doesn't rain and my car hasn't drained all the battery by then, that's when i'll attempt again.

i also read that there's a spot behind the speaker that is easier to find, but more difficult to get to for the blue wire to connect to.
if no advice by then, i'll try that...

thanks again for the help and the mod!

As I've said before without a volt meter it is very difficult to wire this module up because there are multiple wires of the same color in the door.

If a volt meter isn't an option here is what I would do:

Disconnect the yellow wire completely. It is a safety inhibit and is not required for the module to function (it will only stop the module from functioning if it is hooked up wrong).

It sounds like you have the green wire hooked up correctly since the module, at one point, was rolling the windows up.

That leaves the only possible issue with the blue wire.

I would remove the speaker and look for the correct colored wire. The blue wire is the "trigger" wire that makes the module work. If it doesn't see the exact signal it needs then the module won't work as it is supposed to.

If you look at the bunch of wires where the DIY tells you to...I recall there being only one possibility for each wire. I remember doing this at night with barely any lighting and I got lucky and got it right...reread the instructions (maybe I'm thinking of the ones that come with it?)

I never had to remove my speaker when I did the install. Go back through the thread to find the single post I made with a picture showing the exact locations of the connections. I wrote that it was the most helpful picture in the entire thread. Thats what allowed me to get it right. BTW, the module is still going strong after almost 2 years!

fixed, turns out the blue wire needs to be plugged into the grey connector to the left of the grey connector under the white plastic sheet.

the grey connector is hidden under the metal sheet attached by a clip.

thanks for the input, there is a picture that i will post as soon as i find the link that helped me the best.

thanks for the links, thanks for the mod, and the support.
