Actually, this isn't a particularly impossible idea. Note the following from the CD test:

"Acura was clearly planning to take no prisoners with the latest TL, and that was immediately apparent at the drag strip, where the TL ripped off a 0-to-60-mph mark of just 5.8 seconds—a half-second quicker than the potent Infiniti G35 could manage with its 3.5-liter V-6, and more than a second quicker than the best of the rest."

A 1/2 second advantage to 60, manual to manual, may well equate to a roughly equal time for Auto TL vs. Manual G35.

You did get us alright! I was loking for CAI or something that got you down to the mid 5's. FYI Bruce - The auto is 0-60 in 6.3 (+/-.1). It was the manual that CD tested @ 5.8 (some have gotten 5.7 with HPT tires instead of the Crapanzas).

 

Uh oh, here we go again w/ people thinking that all 6MT TL's will go 0 to 60 in 5.8, and all 6MT G35's will go 0 to 60 in 6.3.

Well, I guess it's theoretically possible for an Auto TL to beat even a Porsche 911, if the guy in the 911 can't shift properly!

I was about to go on about "having driven the auto TL" and "it not having any of the balls that my Maxima has" but "it's a nice car either way". :p

 

Just a little friendly fun guys. Based on the numerous posts on this topic, I thought it would get a little rise out of everyone.

By the way, I do have plans to race my buddy in his 2000 Mercedes 500 SL and my other buddy in his 325I manual to 100 mph just for the heck of it.

Doesn't anyone know someone with a G35 that would be up for a little friendly competition????
