Key Cut Dealer Question

Key Cut Dealer Question
I bought a new key for the TL online. Then I asked the closest dealership how much would be cutting and programming. The manager said $58 if I bring my own key.
Went there a few days ago. The manager said it would be a few hours, so he gave me a car and I went to do a few other things in town. Two - three hours later I went back to the dealership and he asked me if I changed the ignition of the car. He said he cut the key based on the car code and it does not work. I never changed the locks or the ignition. I'm the second owner, but I'm confident it was never changed because I have the original valet key and one key that looks very worn out. It would be too much to be changed anyway.. front doors, glow compartment, trunk...
Anyway, the manager have me two options:
I left without doing any of those. I felt that it was probably some mistake they did and not my ignition being changed. He didn't want to even meet in the middle for the $28. I wonder if I were to go and ask them do this job with their key (not bringing mine), would have they made me pay?
What do you think I should do? I don't feel this was right.
Would calling the corporate be any good?

Anyway, the manager have me two options:
- Take out the ignition and look at the "right" code ~$180
- Order a new metal part of the key and have it cut based on my current key ~$28

I think it's just they didn't try hard enough. New keys have to be broken in before use. I've had a new key cut on my accord before and it didn't work for couple days, you'd have to force it in and out many times. Reason for that I heard is the ignition tumblers are worn out at same rate as your current key. But the new one has new grooves and edges, and have to be broken in. After about a week or so the key on my accord started to feel like my original key and couple more keys it was perfect.

Be careful when breaking it in, it may get stuck in the keyhole because its not broken in yet. Some ppl have ripped out their ignitions from forcing the key out. Always test on the glovebox first so even if it gets stuck it's not too bad.

Did you purchase an OEM key or an Ebay key? The Chinese keys on Ebay are hit or miss.
Which dealer did you go to? Acura or Honda?
There are different modes on the machine.
