Keep my '07 TLS or Trade-In for '09 G8 GT?

Damn, with that list of accidents, I feel bad for ya man -- I'd really just consider giving up driving altogether.
I've got 3 brothers, parents handed us all car keys at 16, no single wreck in the family... the only single ticket anyone in the family has ever gotten is my crazy brother -- but that didn't happen until he had his license more than 5 years. I see a car wreck as the end of the world,.... while people on forums seem to have them as daily life events?? Scary!

Dealers are negotiable, at the end of the day they still want to make the sale as long as it is profitable. Are there any other G8's around for sale? If you are set on the one at the dealership, having price quotes from other dealers can ensure that the current dealer will atleast price match.
Don't walk away in the beginning just because they low ball the trade in. You may be able to push down the price of the G8 if they know they are low balling the price of the trade in. The only number that matters is the price difference between trade in and G8, which like someone said before is what you will get taxed on.
Lots of tactics and tips when buying/trading in at dealerships. Going towards the end of the month, knowing KBB value of all cars involved, etc.
I'd probably trade in the current Type S and try to get another Type S. While the body and paint work are still fresh.
Proud owner of an '08 Type S myself, but I'd be lying if I said the G8 didn't tempt me =)
Either way, hope a 'fresh' start with whichever car will get you excited about car ownership again.

After reading info at the G8 site I'm seriously considering keeping the TL. Rear end seals & oil pan gaskets prone to leaking? Lower control arms go bad? GM dealers refusing to honor warranty work? Crappy GM mechanics? A few even said their cars are in the shop at least once a month for repair. Others would never recommend the G8 and that it's basically garbage. Scary stuff.

With 21K damage and body filler I concur wit Deeole here. Time to say Goodbye to the TLS. I was an excellent car BUT that was then and this is now. Go for the G8. It looks nice and you will feel good knowing that it is not damaged the way your beloved TLS was.
You won't regret it. As long as you can afford it.

I test drove a new Pontiac G8 GT and liked it. Didnt love it.
I was considering a new G8 GXP
But bougth a new loaded 2SS/RS LS3 Camaro.
That car is gone.
I cant wait for July when I am buying an 07-08 WDP Type-S.
I dont know why you would want to get rid of the Type-S ?????

My sister stopped over earlier and said: "ARE YOU NUTS?!! Your acura is much more nicer than your brothers G8. More luxury" I think the G8 is just asking for trouble. I'm gonna have to deal with retarded teenagers wanting to race. I know 3 accidents are alot, but the car looks and drives great. No interior creaks etc It's a tough choice because I hate to give up luxury.

I happened to meet the manager of a local restaurant who has a SRT8 Jeep.He used to be a car salesman & said the dealer is going to beat me down and offer $11,000 for the TL.
Looking at my car you cannot tell it was in an accident, there was no frame damage to it. The alignment problem was resolved by a shop installing a aftermarket ball joint & dialed it in to factory spec. The car tracks straight now. I'm expecting to be beat down tommorow, they think they'll give me $11,000 & turn around & get $16,000 for the TL. Little do they know I'm not desperate for another car & will walk out. The TL will do 200,000 miles EASILY, the G8? DOUBTFUL.

I would keep the TL. Something about buying a car from a manufacturer that doesnt exist anymore just scares me. Also you could buy the G8 tomm, and wreck it and then you are in the same boat. Do some mods to the TL to get that good feeling back and you will start to love her again.
I was in the same boat a few months ago with wanting to trade in my TL, I did some mods to it and I LOVE this car again. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Well, it looks like problem is solved because its no longer listed at cars.com or at the dealer website. But I do see there is a newly listed 2007 pontiac grand prix at dealer site so I'm guessing somebody traded it in for the G8. Saturday is car shopping day for folks. Oh well, I'm keeping the TLS. The G8's are way over priced to begin with.

Personally I have been looking out for a nicely priced GXP. We already have a G8 GT in the family and I was impressed. If I do it, it will have to be a manual though. As a side note, they are completely useless in the winter. Don't even try to drive it in any amount of snow that is sticking to the road.

I did alot of research on the G8, went to their site & read posts regarding problems from owners. I also closed reviewed carfax reports at cars.com. The G8 although quick & nice looking, they have problems. Lower control arms prone to going bad, harmonic balancers breaking, computer control modules, drive belts & pulleys, leaking oil pans & rear axle housings etc. One G8 I read about had the drive belts changed twice within 8,000 miles and 4 wheel alignment too. I like the G8, but I just don't want to get stuck with a money pit. 79,000 miles on my TLS & no belt noises, none of those things breaking. You can't beat honda quality IMO.

I know the TLS isn't really quick, but will hold its own. It is sporty looking though. If I want to smoke cars all I need to do is jump on my 08' Suzuki B-King. Mine TLS is spotless. No scratches, no dents, no rust. Going to do the timing belt at 105,000 miles & she'll be good for another 100,000 miles. Besides, my son works at acura dealer so I get discount on parts. lol
