Just went from an 04 TSX to an 07 TL
I get the keys on Monday Night!!!
I went with White with Taupe Leather...With Navi of course!
Got a steal since it was the LAST 07 on the lot!!
I have a couple questions. I know tinting the TSX was a BAD idea because of all the problems with scratching of the tint due to the type of lining used by Acura. My question is....Is the 07 TL safe to tint without FEAR of 6th months down the road having scratches all over the tint job??
Also...I had a Blitzsafe that I put in my TSX so I could use my iPod and charge it at the same time....will this work with the 07TL or do I need something new?
One last thing....What size speakers are in the back deck? What size is the subwoofer in the back deck? How easy are these to get out and replace?? My TSX rear speakers were SO easy...just pop off the cover, unscrew and drop in the new ones...
Thanks in advance

Congrats on the new TL! I'm sure you'll find it to be a significant upgrade from the TSX.
Regarding the tint - it's interesting everything I hear about scratching on these cars. I have an '06 which was tinted at the dealer and I have no idea whether they used moleskin or not. However, I've had the car just over a year now and have no scratching issues.

Congrats and great color WDP. The interior color is 2nd choice, but last on the lot.
At least the interior will stay cool. As for tinting, I wouldn't do it. I had TOP quality
tint put on with a Guarantee NOT to scratch. In 2 days I got some bad scratches.
I then installed Moleskin as Per instructions, and the driver window started to come
off. I re-installed AGAIN as Per instructions, and it finally stayed on. I still got some
fine scratches even though I kept very clean. Its your choice, many diff opinions on this
question, but if you install the Moleskin PROPERLY and PERFECT, and DON'T mind some
small scratches, then go for it......MY 2 CENTS....
And leave the stereo stock, AS IS.

I personally think the stock stero is second rate and would go with an upgrade. Drop in an new 8in sub, JL is great, but I think anything could be better than stock. Next get some mole skin and some high quality tint. Search for the thread "Show me your tint" and you'll see just how she'll look. Are you planning on doing any performance mods? I would suggest the CAI and the stage 3 exhaust. Get some led's and you'll be in business.. Ok that's just my two cents.
BTW... WDP? shoulda went with NBP! It's all good though, I actually had second thoughts after buying mine and wish I went with WDP because of how classy she looks. My next car will be white...It sucks that I have to wait until 2011 for the 4th gen TL type s to be released.
Welcome to the TL side of the family.

car is almost 2 years old and I got it tinted the day after I picked it up. No moleskin and no scratches to my tint. I think most importantly you need to keep your windows clean to prevent scratching.

It uses very decent components. The subwoofer, for example, uses a Kevlar driver.

I've got an "audiophile" grade home system and have spend a fair amount of money in aftermarket stereo components for many cars.
I was pleasantly surprised by the TL's stereo. It exceeded my expectations in every way.

Acura TL ELS Surround System
This is the Swiss Army knife of OEM receivers. The Acura TL system combines a full-featured AM/FM/6-disc CD changer receiver along with a cassette section for Books On Tape fans, an XM satellite radio tuner with real time traffic data, premium 225-watt amplifier, eight speakers with center channel and a subwoofer, a touch screen to operate the audio system as well as one of the best OEM navigation systems. The one extra kicker, if all this wasn't enough, is that the system is voice-operated. There's even an optional accessory to allow you to interface your iPod seamlessly into the system. The system is standard in the $35,100 navigation-equipped TL, a premium of $2000 over the standard-level TL that by any reasonable measure is a technology bargain and the aftermarket's worst nightmare.

I Agree.
For an OEM system, the TL is very good. Of course, if you spend the $$$ to customize with high quality components (full or partial) you can make improvment. But, standard, right-off-the-truck, the TL does better than most.
RE Tints: Get Moleskin. I F'd up and only had moleskin installed on the fronts. Almost immediatly (within a couple of days) I had scratches in the back.
They've gotten worse since, (
