Just replaced windshield.

My windshield had a star burst chip in the drivers view so my insurance company (State Farm) agreed to pay pay for it because it could be a potential safety hazard. Initiallly the were going to Safelite or Lynx to replace the glass and they would use a replacement. I asked and after a brief discussion they agreed to put the OEM glass in. The total came to $928.00 for the new glass, upper seal and installation. My deductible was $500.00 and the insurance company paid the rest. However the Acura dealer said it's possible the replacement may be recorded as an accident on Carfax becuase it was an insurance claim. Has anyone heard about this? Also, has finally decided to brand their components as Acura. My old windshield and the ones on the rest of the car say Honda however the replacement says Acura.

You got a genuine glass
Often you find that the cash price at glass shops is 350-450 and the insurance price is 900
Unless your deduct is 100 you may as well just pay cash for the thing

Yes carfax gets a report on anything the insurance pays a claim on-thats where it gets 90 percent of its info, on the general area it will show a hit- then the paid access area will say insurance payout- glass, or the amount and its obvious its just glass
it also gets a record of dmv inspection/renewals (some states) and dealer services if reported by dealer
