Just purchased 05 TL w/Navi...good deal?

So today I purchased a silver 05 TL with grey interior and 8k miles on it for $32,000. Is this a good deal? I drove it around and specifically listened for any rattling/vibrations - none...after 8k miles I figured if there werent any by now, it should be good to go. The one thing I did learn...to my dissatisfaction is that the TL's contain a drive belt as opposed to a drive chain like the TSX & RSX

I hope your price was out-the-door , cause I've seen many people get 2006 TLs with Nav for around $33K before taxes.

At any rate, welcome to Acurazine!

Ask those questions before you buy. Afterwards, just sit back and enjoy the ride instead looking back.

Welcome to AcuraZine.

???? How did that happen? Is it a return or exchange for a different car. That is the only one I have heard about.

I got my last month on a new 05 with navi for 31.5K before tax/title. I would think 32K is a bit much.

Dont take someone's post that they paid 32.5k out the door for a TL with Navi as gold because that is the BEST if not one of the BEST out the door prices by at least 2k.

The price depends on where you live. In Socal, you can get a pretty good deal. I got my '06 w/nav for about $31,600 (inc. Dest). I hear it is not as good in other parts of the country.

Verbal agreement with the manager. I wanted 3 days to make sure everything checks out - my finances, a check with you guys , some additional research, etc

If you think you can find a better deal tell the dealership you dont want it, that you found something else. they might bring the price down for you so you can keep it.

Probably the same as mine. Rosenthal... I just called the one in chantilly and they were inclined to offer 06's with nav for mid 32k's although they pulled up short of making this OTD...still its a good deal. On another plus, I contacted my credit union for some pretty good loans. I may get something for around 480/mo. (5.X - low 6.X% rate for 84 mo's)

Criswell. I got new 05 with Navi for 30. Had 50 miles when I picked it up. I paid 31k OTD. Check Criswell. Rosenthal is usually a rip off (although I do get my service done there since its closest to me)

Actually, they told me that they could give me this price if I bought a car from their lot and tried some "bait and switch" tactics ("OK, so if your first color choice is not availble, what will be your second choice?")
Frankel and Tischer dealership also didn't like my offer, but at least they were polite. Few days later Norris Acura West agreed to sell for 33K over the phone without any negotiations. I don't have any illusions about dealers, and I was genuinely surpised how smooth and easy I bought the car- not couning the 3 months wait, but they were upfront about it and kept me updated during the wait. I guess I could have the car even a little cheaper, if not for the factory order.

Forgot, to mentioned I was at another dealership in Silver Spring, but they didn't come close to a good price.
All shops in MD charge $99 "Processing Fee", I heard that it is up to $300 in VA- need to keep this in mind.
DCH Montclair Acura quoted $32800 with no fees- not enough to drag me to NJ

I had an 04 TSX with 41k miles on it. I owed $19k on it, the dealership I dealt with paid it off and sold me a 05 TL w/navi for $30,500, and it only had 6k miles on it. I worked him down as much as I could, and I even started to walk out. I wanted the car for $29k, but I was realistically looking at what I paid for it.

My god. I tried to get an OTD price from Chantilly, not even WRITTEN, and they refused. They wanted a $1000 'deposit' before they quoted me that price. bastards. How the hell am I supposed to commit to buying something I dont know the final price of? Rosenthal tries to rip me off on a used, chantilly wont give me a goddamn final price. I need to buy this thing by tomorrow to take advantage of the eom. sigh.

It was at Radley Acura in Falls Church, VA

The deal involved a lot of negotiating and them trying to play a lot of games.

But I ended up not too bad with the price. Not sure if they will honor that deal again for anyone, but like I said, I do have it written from Radley so you can even use it to try matching elsewhere if you'd like.

well, I bought mine at pohanka for 33400 before/tax,,maybe you can do better. shoot for low 33k. They ask bit more for premium colors with more demand but they would work with you if they think you are goin to buy the car. just say if the deals fall through, you'll buy them on spot. even thou it creates verbal contract or written if you put initials down, but you can always say,,,well that's not what i'm looking at or just shake your head... give your salesman some workout walking back and forth from their manager to you...at least 5 times

I bet they will keep on saying, "My manager is being harsh on me...can you help us out by meeting in between the price difference?"

keep shakin that head...and good luck!!!

OK.

I went to them and played HARD BALL today. First I told them I wanted to speak with the manager and wanted to return my used 05 and get a new one, but I would be getting the new one elsewhere. Thats it. (stick & carrot) Manager came out and I laid it out to him, I would like to return my car, I found a better price elsewhere, basically same price for my used one for a new one. Of course he didnt want to let me go, so I told him, listen I'm willing to work with you, if you come up with a comparable price for a new 06 or a big discount on my used model, I'd be willing to work with him. He goes away comes back with a pretty decent discount on that used: 31,700 OTD but a crappy deal on a new - 35k OTD. I got the message, no discount on new, he wants me to take that used model. F that, I want a new one at 32,5, in the color I actually wanted. So I called up Sybaek, in front of the manager, he told me a friend got a 33,5 OTD price from pohanka. I tell this to the manager, then say no i'm walking and he's like that price is impossible, but hold on...calls their last resort - the sales manager. He comes over walks me through the 33,5 number backwards using THEIR t&t (not VA's)- came out to 31,xxx which he said was below invoice - the invoice is 32,800 he cant get any lower (this figure was given to me by chantilly as well) walks me through what this comes out to in MD OTD - 34,629. I agree to this, they stick me with the 'new guy' whose been there less than a year. You know you just worked them over when you get the 'rook' and move you to the back of the queue (i waited for 3-4 hrs to get processed after their 'profitable' customers ) He tells me VA tax is 3% vs 5% for MD so that's how you get 33,5 in VA (which the lead sales manager didnt seem to know how to figure out) (but they pay title tax every year on a car so md pays out in long run). I actually liked him better than anybody else I dealt with there - he kept it real with me, spent a lot of time with me answering questions and running me through the basics on my new TL (more than the original rep did for me on the used - found out theres a latch in the glove compartment which locks the trunk, found out about the security codes for the nav & sound system), and basically agreed with why and what I did heh.

SO FINALLY I get my NEW White Diamond Ebony w/nav for 32,800. (ONLY 800 more than that used 05) Love white - the external details & highlights were hidden on the silver, plus it really stands out, especially with a contrasting black interior, which is just awesome - silver highlights stand out more although some things are harder to see, it looks more expensive than the onyx (can you say plastic? this thought came to mind when i was moving stuff btw cars...plastic...leather..plastic...leather...) cant wait to add a spoiler lid and tint the windows.

So what did I get for that extra 800? tire monitors, a new car without any questionable/unknown history in the color I want, 2 key fobs + the valet key (only got one and no valet key w/ the 05), new XM trial period, a fresh new warranty, wheel locks, and to top everything off a better rate from my Credit Union for a NEW vehicle (basically i'm paying 488/month vs 575/mo with acura financing on the 05)

I am HAPPY. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS (sorry for the essay) props to Sybaek for the extra help.

F' Pohanka. I bought my '05 TL March of last year. The sales guy was okay, but his manager f'ed it up for him when he tried to screw me on my trade in. Car was in exceptional condition and had all the service records from the dealer...even had new tires with 2K on them. The Pohanka service manager tried to offer me $1K less than blue book. I went Radley in Falls Church. The salesman (Mohammad) offered me $2.5K over blue book without even looking at my trade in! He stuck to his word every step of the way, and threw in free oil changes and state inspections for the life of the vehicle. Ended up getting the car out the door for $34K, which isn't so bad considering the extra cash on the trade in and the fact that the new body style was in such high demand. You can't drive around this area without feeling like you in a Acura TL dealership...

I bet he got a rookie salesperson that quoted the invoice price as OTD and they had to honor it.

need help

Sup guys,

I live in Canada and am looking for a Tl w/ Navi possibly 05. I would go 06 but the prices here after tax (15%) comes to a hefty $53k which is about $46US. I am reading that some of u fellas are paying 32.5 USD for the same car w/ navi???? That sounds insane from someone here in canada.

Now I know u guys have less tax but that still leaves 7 or 8k USD more. Would it be cheaper to buy in the US or should I just get it used ...like a 05 with low mileage????

thanks fellas....

The best you can expect is buying it starting from invoice ($32,800) You have a crazy tax, but even then you should still be looking at around $38 - 39,000 depending on tags & dealer processing fees... $46,000 is just crazy. See what quotes you can get online.

Ok, next weekend,

I'll scan up the fax that states 32,500 OTD with taxs and tags!

It is from the dealer and ya'll can print it out to hopefully having dealers in your area match that.

If not, buy it from where I got it.

Coming next week...

32,500 OTD for 2006 6MT TL w/Navi!

Hope it'll help many of you!

Quick Reply: Just purchased 05 TL w/Navi...good deal?
