Just Picked Up Yesterday!

These forums have been a great resource for all the Acuras I've owned (Legends, older TL's, RL's, MDX) looking forward to learning more and doing a lot with this new TL. It's an 06 AM w/ Navi, 76k, has a warranty until June 2014 or 114k miles.

First things first, I really need to get a HON adapter (aux out) so I can hook my phone up to the stereo- I don't care about having it integrate with the Nav. I've installed them on my MDX and an 01 TL- can anyone link me to the best option for this and a walkthrough of the install?

Thanks guys, pretty stoked- I just upgraded from a 1996 RL with 225k I also need to do a full detail this weekend, haven't had time yet.

So, I've been reading threads about getting an aux 3.5mm jack and it's confusing- so many different options- can anyone point me to a HON adapter or something similar that will plug into the back of the deck and give me a aux out? Doesn't have to be Ipod, I'll generally be using my android phone.

Grats. I just bought an '08 AT with 39k miles on Tuesday. Very clean ride. Researched the TL's for a long time...and when I finally got to test drive one, I was VERY impressed with them. I've enjoyed all 100 miles I've put on it so far

Congrats on the purchase. I have an '05 AM, 6MT w/o NAV. I installed Item# 581PA15HN3 from Crutchfield within 2 weeks of purchase. I'm not sure if that item numbre will work with NAV or not, but crutchfield includes all the instructions for disassembling the dash... so I highly recommend using them.

Best of luck!

Nice ride, just picked up my second TL a week and a half ago. I have a 6-speed 04 w/Nav, so if I can help you out as we both slowly upgrade our cars just lemme know!

Thanks- I think this is actually what I'm looking for b/c I don't want the Ipod specific plug:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_469HON3...da.html?tp=422

Looks like it's out of stock, I may have to wait or see if I can find it somewhere else. EDIT- found it on Amazon for the same price, going to order it. Is it possible to get to the rear of the stereo w/out taking the dash apart? I know I could on my 01 TL. It looks like there's a nice clean way to get the wires up through the armrest- I had to drill a small hole in my MDX center console.

Yep, already tinted which is a plus. I need to totally detail it this weekend- leather is in good shape but it's in bad need of some serious Lexol-ing. Next step is some new rims, I do like the ASPEC rims but I think I'll need new tires b/c they're 18's.

Yep, you can access the wiring plug without taking out the head unit (you just need rather slim fingers to get back there). However, you still need to take a few pieces off to be able to gain access to the back of the head unit. Do a quick search on here to find a DIY on how to take it apart. There's also a useful youtube video that showed the entire dis-assembly process.

Finally, I drilled a hole in the lower trap-door to bring the wiring through. I wanted to put it in the cupholder, but I didn't feel like taking apart the center console to get it there.

Ahh, true, I'll need a hole in the trap door- good point. If anyone has a link to that DIY that'd be awesome, otherwise I'm sure I can find it.

Awesome!

^^^ I'm assuming this DIY is consistent with a NAV equipped TL?

Kreids2, do you know where to get the blue 'panel remover' he uses? Or if you have a part number I'm sure I can figure out the rest.

Or is there just a standard Acura toolkit I can buy that has this and any proprietary screw bits, etc?

When I did mine, I did not need the blue plastic pry bar. A few times I used a flat-head screwdriver just to get my fingers underneath. And I think I only ran into phillips screws during the dis-assembly.

The dash removal parts on the NAV are probably the same... not sure about wiring behind the head unit though.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to- I should be able to figure it out, hoping I have time this weekend to fully detail- waaaay to busy at work and may have to work this weekend.

Guys- I got the Pie/Hon installed last weekend, the video above showed everything perfectly.

Quick question though if anyone knows- when I hooked it up like the video shows, I plugged the Pie/Hon female prong into the male prong I pulled out and plugged the female prong into the back of the deck. When I did that, nothing worked on satellite or cd. After it didn't work, I unplugged the female prong and just left the male prong plugged into the back of the deck- which worked. I'm assuming that's normal because my car has NAV and the car in the video doesn't, but just wanted to check.

Congrats Welcome to AZ! Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/ in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.
