Just got my '08 TL-S!
Hey guys,
Just posting to say hello and say I'm now an owner of an 08 TL-S. It has 35k miles on it, NBP w/ Black interior. I'll try to post some pictures later on.
I previously had an 04 TSX, moved to an 07 Mazdaspeed 3, then this. All great cars.
I tried very hard to find something wrong with it by now but can't say i found many problems with it yet. I got confused with my Nav not dimming at night but found the solution by a search, it was easy enough lol.
Just wondering what should i be looking at for maintenance at this mileage for this car. Searched a bit and is Redline Full synthetic 5w-20 + OEM filter and Redline ATF (Racing one?) a good combo? There's a wealth of info here so you get lost a little sometimes.
Anyway, looking forward to my next Acura.

i bought my used 08 base TL with 30k on the odometer..
decided to set a base line when it comes to maintenance so i changed my engine air filter, cabin air filter, oil.
man the cabin air filter was dirty as hell, and my car had about 33k when i changed it... i suggest you do the same.
engine air filter was also pretty dirty.
the people i bought the car from claimed they changed the engine oil, but i decided to change it anyways. that way i know for sure. i went with mobil 1 ep 5w-30 the first time around (car asks for 5w-20, but 5w-30 won't hurt)
you should also get around to changing your 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches also... i'm sitting at about 39k right now. waiting to hit 40k before i do my switches, redline racing atf, and new engine oil.

Congrats on the 08 TL-S. Almost identical to my 08 NBP with the exception of the transmission. As far as oil I dont know why everyone wants to use redline. Its probably more expensive, its not readily available like Mobile One, and I personally wasnt thrilled with it when my friend used it in his mustang (engine was signficantly louder with that oil. He drained it out immediately and went back to M1). I say just use the 5 quart jug of M1 synthetic 5W20 from any walmart for 21 bucks. Cant go wrong and its proven!
As for tranny fluid for the auto I say go with OEM Honda fluid. I stuck with OEM air filter as well.
The oil filter I recommend either original Honda filter or Mobile One makes good filters as well.
Hope this helps.

This is my first AT car so the pressure switches is new to me. Where do you guys usually buy OEM stuff online? I know Mazda's had great places for that.

people speak of redline referring to the transmission fluid, not the engine oil. the auto tranny NEEDS it

Stick with Mobile 1 or another reputable synthetic for your engine oil. It's less expensive and more accessible and does a great job.
The transmission fluid is what you want to use the Redline for. I would recommend against using the OEM fluid. Some people still say use OEM but a lot of people on the site stay as far from it as they can and use Redline Racing fluid, and I'm one of those people. Do some searching and read up and decide for yourself. Good luck!

Speaking of floor mats, I realized that I never threw away the rubber mats I had in my CL-S. They were sitting in my garage for over 4 yrs, and fit almost perfect. I just had to cut out a small notch on the driver side one to compensate for the fact that the gas pedal is connected to the floor at the bottom. Felt like I found free money!

Hhmm, not really sure? I quickly glanced at the pedals and it seems some of those black anti-slip "thingys" are missing but i didn't bother taking a closer look at it. Maybe it's the design but i don't think it's rusted.
I was busy learning all the other stuff lol.
