When did he get this price, and how? Did he already know someone there or what? Why would they sell a car at that price when it is easily selling at about $2000 - $2500 more. Which is still ~$1800 under MSRP

Spend the extra $1500 and get a new one that you know has not been abused for 900 miles.

I guess i would have to wonder why it was traded in with only 930 miles.

yeah 930 miles seems sketchy. I'd get the VIN and inspect it - could have been an accident, a demo or just an unhappy owner (with first-year niggles).

I'd go with a new one.

Some dealers are willing to sell lower than that, area by area.

I think your price is pretty good if it's new car and new VIN... my friend got 30,500 yesterday...

He is probably talking about a 2nd gen TL and not an 04 ?

Ditto the suspicious sound of this, could be anything, who gets rid of a car in 900 miles unless they are broke or so rich they just got bored that quick.

There is some serious misinformation on this thread about the going price of a new one. Cavaet Emptor.

Island Acura in Bayshore, David Hoffman is the internet sales mgr. My quote said it was only good for 7 days so not sure if it's still available (I would guess it is since the '05 should be out soon?). The TL wasn't to my liking (nothing personal anyone, please!) so I purchased a G35x. Taking delivery in 2 days. Good luck with your search. Also, FYI my quote was for a base model (non-NAV, auto trans).

Heh, I got the same email.

We just received in trade, a 2004 Acura TL with 930 miles. The car is Black with Quartz interior, automatic NO NAVI. Please call or respond if you are interested.

Thank you,

Dave Ferkler
Internet Manager
(215) 365-7500 ext 337
(215) 365-7024 fax
dferkler@metroauto.us

My price on the email was $29,500

If it's not ok to post this, please let me know.

I wouldn't take the plunge on it. I've talked to them before, and if it follows their replies before, the car was traded in because the owner didn't like the color and that they did it as a service for the client to allow him to trade in the car for another color. yada yada.

FYI, Island Acura is in Wantagh.

I dealt with David Hoffman at Island, which is why I bought my car from Joe Ferrara at Acura of Valley Stream. I wasn't impressed with my email/phone dealings with Island Acura.

Feel free to PM for details about Island Acura OR Acura of Valley Stream.

Regards,

Oops, yes, I stand corrected. One of the reasons that I didn't even bother to head out to Wantagh was that when I was ready to make a deal, the dealer sold the car I wanted "that morning." But he could locate one for me.

BTW, Lee, I LOVE that Dart! I'm a lifetime Mopar fan and have had your page bookmarked for quite some time. Not to go too OT here but have you driven any of the new RWD models yet (300, Magnum)? I suppose I would wait at least a year for them to get the bugs worked out before buying.

Thanks! The Dart is my "baby", but I can't bring myself to buy a new Chrysler product. The quality is simply not up to my standards in comparison to the better Japanese cars. I have owned several Toyotas, and never considered anything other than Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, and Infiniti this time around.

I was at the All Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA a few weeks ago, and started a thread about my impressions on the Magnum. That thread drew no interest, but I stated that the interior of the car struck me as VERY cheap. Non-contoured shiny plastics all over, a tiny navigation screen, parts that didn't fit right. Of course there's also the risk of buying a first year model and Chrysler still doesn't have a good rep for quality.

I never drove any of the current Chrysler offerings, but I can imagine a HEMI AWD Magnum being pretty fun to try out.

Feel free to PM if you'd like any info on Acura of Valley Stream. I was satisfied with my dealings with them and I'm thrilled with the car.

Regards,
