Just got back from the HONDA dealership
Ok, so i'm sure you all know my predicament by now...
My mom evidently still a little interested in getting a new car, b/c we went to the Honda dealership today to check out the Accord.
My mom liked it "almost" as much as the TL. The part that shocked me was the price. The fully loaded top of the line Accord with EVERY option...leather, heated seats, XM, even NAV...pretty much everything the TL comes with...is about $29k...and the dealer quoted us $25.7k...that's pretty damn cheap for a car that appeared to be as well-made as the TL...although i'm not crazy about it.
What do you guys think?...i'm not sure

Kyle,
I agree, the Honda is a great deal. I've driven both and the TL won me over for many obvious reasons, interior, better handling, and especially the exterior! I swear Honda wacked the Accord with the ugly stick just to prevent what we're talking about now. I don't like the front of the Accord at all, the back I could live with, but it is bland. In fact the wrap around headlights on the TL were characteristic of older Accords, now they've got those goofy looking rounded triangles, as I digress... It is a hell of a car for the $, with Nav too!

The Accord lacks the TL's style, sporty drive, and some features. But for almost $10 grand less, it is certainly an excellent choice for those who don't want or need what the TL offers and costs.
Hopefully this post won't invoke the ghost of 1le. He was always trying to claim the TL wasn't worth the extra bucks, but all his blathering couldn't argue away the simple truth - "worth" is a subjective thing. For those of us who bought the TL, the extra dough was WELL SPENT.
But your mom, who sounds fairly practical, may not think so. OK, you may not like being seen in the ugly Accord if she buys one, but you have to admit it - in the world of new car possibilities, the Accord is still an excellent choice.

my wife drives a 03 v6 accord. great car, love hondas and i've had them all:
83 accord, 87 accord, 94 accord, 98 accord.
but again, my wife drives the honda because the tl is a MAJOR step up.

I looked hard at the accord...
and I liked it a lot. Still do...Its no
TL but its also 8-1000 cheaper---If the 6 cylinder came with a 6 speed I would have seriously considered it. A few things turned me off though...I really wanted black interior but didnt want another silver car...Honda has the black only come with the silver...very ghey. I like the styling of the accord as well..except the front headlights...it looks like every other honda. Other than that I think the accrd is a heckuva car for the money. I liked it better than the tsx...it just felt more solid. TSX has great looks...but I just didnt like the small car feel or the "peppy" engine. If I am paying 25k plus I want more than "peppy".... :thefinger peppy !

I love the TL...but the Accord is still a Honda, which I consider one of the best brands in the industry...so I guess I could live with it...especially if they get the nav...which I think they will. Hell, when you're only spending $26k on a car, you can add all the toys you want.
My wife has had an EX V6 Accord since the Fall. Great car! She loves it. Superior quality and good power. However, it is not a TL. I paid $7k more for my TL and she and I agree it is worth every penny. Two great cars - one is just greater.
As compare to the fully-loaded Accord, the TL has 270 HP, VSC, Brake Assist, HID, bigger wheels (worse tires, though), Bluetooth connection, ELS audio system, better warranty, nicer style inside and out, etc...

It's just the fact that it's an Accord I don't like...every other car on the road is one...definately a big drop in prestige from the TL...and the TL is SO much better looking

Kyle,
Accord may change their exterior appearance next year... at least, Honda in Japan comes out something different... the similar tail as the current accord, but the different front... who knows what US 05Accord will have?
Since Honda quoted you $3.3k off MSRP, they should have reasons to do that...
I'd say Accord is the very decent choice if money is an issue.

They loved the TL, but they think the Accord is the same car, so they think..."why spend the exta money"
I think i'm gradually swaying my mom back to the TL...she evan admitted that the seats were more comfortable than the Accord's.

The TSX owns.
