Just got 2008 TL Type S

Okay guy so I just got my 2008 tl type s MT 80k mileage
I am not very good at mt but shifting up the gear is not much off a problem
The real problem is how I down shift ?
Do I rev match or just slow down/let go of has paddle and down shift

Congrats and welcome. I'm confused by your post. Is your Type S a manual 6 Speed or an automatic??

Try to rev match as best you can, to avoid burning the clutch over time (or at least make it last longer). Just a quick bleep of the throttle will do. You'll get used to how much over time as you gain experience with this car.

Also, you dont always need to down shift when coming to a stop, simply shift to neutral and let the brakes stop the car.

Like FamilyGuy said, you can just put the car in neutral and use the brakes to slow down instead of the transmission. To downshift, you can do it a couple of ways; Push the clutch in while in gear and blip the throttle a bit then let the clutch out or another way is to push the clutch in, go in neutral, blip the throttle a bit, push the clutch back in, and go into gear.

Congrats on your pickup!

Yeah just put it in neutral don't waste clutch. Brakes handle the stopping :-)
But to answer your question if I downshift I do blip the throttle a little to get the r's up a bit.

I keep mine in gear all the way to the stop light.
when in gear and no throttle applied; the injectors are off!

Okay so I have to rev it up abit before I downshift? Best way in highway?

And for the neutral part
If I am on 4th gear coming to a stop I went neutral but I didn't completely stopped
So from there do I just clutch and go back to 4th ? Or I could just go into 3rd without rev match? Could I even skip to 2nd cuz of the speed lost??

You're really thinking about this too hard.
Just coast in neutral. If you want so save gas let it coast in a lower gear.

Answer is going to be completely dependent on how much you slowed down and what your speed is at the time you want to engage the transmission. 2nd, 3rd or 4th are all acceptable and/or correct responses - again depending on your speed.

Why a lower gear? That would jump the RPMs up and increase stress on all moving parts, engine, trans and driveline. I would keep it in current gear or up shift, not down shift. I would only down shift to keep RPMs up on purpose to stay in power band when driving aggressive. Maybe I'm misunderstanding?

I don't think your misunderstanding. I think you guys both mean the same thing, once just has the wording wrong (not you).

Coasting is easier when you upshift.

The bottom line is to always leave it in gear when coming to a stop, as the injectors cut fuel on deceleration, whereas in neutral they don't.

I don't think FamilyGuy knows the joy of a sweet heel-and-toe or rev-matched downshift. It's what makes manual transmissions so fun. Check out the pro's:

I only wish I could drive like that guy.

^there is no practical reason to heel toe on the streets.

However, to save wear on the syncro's a proper rev-match down shift is warranted

I do it all the time. Love the noise

Still need lots of practice on doing it heel-toe though. My foot jumps back and forth between pedals most of the time. Horrible and damn near impossible on hard breaking cuz you come off the brakes that way. So I'll down shift once or twice and once I get close to traffic I stay on the brakes and just ride that gear or hit neutral till I stop. This is where a good auto with paddles would come in handy, but sadly most cars don't have Ferrari transmissions, plus you lose the joys of manually shifting through the gears.

But the main point above was how to do it in a "nice" every day way, easy on the car and clutch.
