so i just got my car about 4 days ago..
and im trying to get the windows tinted all around.

i was thinking 20% all around
or maybe 15% all around except front and get 20% for the front

suggestions?
o and i heard that acuras have those big dots on the windows so it looks bad if you tint it...

thats not true. i have 20% all around on my silver 04 and it looks lean and clean.

 

just make sure you get the moleskin for the doors

 

Are you allowed to tint your front windows in Washington? If so do atleast the back windows in 5% and the fronts in 15 or 20.

 

i would try not to mismatch tint color.. i understand laws and visibilty issues, but i dont think it looks right...

20% all around is a nice choice. i had 10% on my NBP, and 15% on my WDP...

 

I agree with blackura on this one, don't mix the tint percentages like you are thinking, just stick to the 20% if you wanna stay legal or go to 15% if you wanna test your cops.

Keeping it one color will look classy

18% titanium all around here, flawless,haven't gotten pulled over yet(cops are beasts in some areas i go through).I used to get pulled over daily in my cl with 5% limo.

what does moleskins for doors mean?

 

moleskin = a felt like strip that the tint guys should know about and have to install on the inside of the window slots on the door, basically to prevent the tint from scratching

I say get 20% all around...I went with 20% in the back half and 35% up front...looks good but 20% would of just sealed the deal haha

the TL windows have very tight tension blades, or 3rd rail as some like to call it.. you could remove it, but you'll hear alot of roadnoise and unwanted whistles. the rail scratches the shit outta your tint

by lining it with moleskin or felt, you stop it from scracthing up your tints... not 100%, but 90%... i've owned 2 TLs, one with felt, one with out.. huge difference in the tint scratching

 

I don't have felt and my windows look fine. 20% all around. Mixed tint percentages look wack!

 

P.S. I went with regular lumar metallic tint with the navigation, no problems...I was told that the am range wouldn't be as far and therefore poorer quality but i haven't noticed anydifference and its been 2 weeks now. The felt is a must, otherwise your going to vertical lines on all your window tint.

I went with the ceramic tint before on my WDP and now with my new 08 TL type S 15% llumar metallic all round, i love it! Goodluck

 

I had felt on all my windows but the driver's window kept getting wet from rain or carwash and streaked glue and water on the window so I eventually had to take it off. I haven't had a scratch in that window yet. 20% all around is what I did and it looks great, but on a black car (like mine) you might get harassed a little more than usual. I've been checked and warned twice in the last 3 months here in NYC but haven't gotten a ticket yet

Hey just noticed that you're from Ottawa? Where'd you get the tint done at? I pick up my TL-S from Camco tomorrow!

 

GET 20% MAKE SURE YOU TINT THAT SUNROOF MINE 5% ON THE SUNROOF AND I LOVE IT MY WINSHIELD IS ALSO TINTED 35%

 

catiaudo...that looks more like 30-35%....1fsthatch's looks more like 20%...just wondering if its infact a lighter %

Hey PREAM, i think my moleskin is scratching my tints. When i got my 07 TL-S, I had to tint my windows around 4 times within a 2 week span. 2 weeks later, my tints were scratching up(i think of all the glue).

I want to retint my windows for the summer. All the scratches make my tints look reall shitty.

DO you know what the price range is for the moleskins? Will any tint shop replace moleskins?

 

Got my tint from a shop called general auto glass on clyde...The guys anme is Rob, really nice guy...does a good job. Also, the tint is 15% and does look dark upon external viewing however my mother is chlaustrohphobic hates my cousins 5% tint but she's perfectly fine in my 15% llumar. I have NO problems with visibility at night, can see perfect out the windows and no probelms witht he cops(yet, knock on wood). Again, with the llumar film, i have had no problems whatsoever with the fm/am or navi. These were taken quickly one night...i'll post better ones later!
