Just got an 05 TL
Just wanted to say Hello. I have loved the car for about a year now, and I finally pulled the trigger and got one Monday night. I must say, it is a GREAT car. I have only had it a few days, and I love it. It looks great, handles and drives perfectly and I am impressed with all the options.
The car drives GREAT. Plenty of pickup, great on the highway. I went up to Milwaukee and back from Chicago already and the trip computer was reading 30pmg the whole way on the highway! I used to have a Ford Lightning, and an 03 Cobra and I never knew what it was like to have a car with performance AND decent gas mileage.
I got a Silver 05 with Navigation and everything. I like the Nav, Bluetooth and XM. I really enjoy the hands free for my phone, and the Hands free voice commands. It will take me a few weeks to completly get used to all the options. Every time I get in it, I find something NEW.
Just wanted to say Hello.

Congrats on the purcahase and welcome to Acurazine. As you already may have noticed, acurazine is full of alot of info (watch your dormat modding habit appear). BTW, what exact color combo is it? i already know it is silver, but is quartz leather or ebony?

It is a Silver with Black Leather interior. I love the car, the voice commands and the NAV!
I am looking around here trying to figure out how to burn MP3's onto a DVD or CDRW and get them to play in the TL.
Anyone on AIM that can help me real quick? I have downloaded Adobeman's DVDA GUI but that is as far as I got. Shanezam203 is my name on AIM.
Thanks so much,
Shane

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought there was a thread on here saying how to convert MP3's into some kind of a readable format and burn to CD/DVD and play in the Acura.

Burning MP3's on CD
Hello all. This is my first post. Last week I was burning some Christmas CD's to give to a friend. All the songs where in MP3 format. When I was done, I grabbed one of the CD's and loaded it into my 05 TL. It played fine. Not sure what I did differently, but I have read a lot of messages saying you can not play MP3's in the TL. Maybe it played them just because they were Christmas songs.....

So all we can do is burn CD's (roughly 20 songs or so) onto a CDRW no way of MP's?
1sweet-tl how many songs did you burn, if their are less than 20 I think it will play the MP3's because they are converted, Im not positive though... Just wondering if there are like 30-50 Christmas songs or just 20. IF just 20 I dont think they are MP3 format.
Thanks for the notes.

welcome!
with regard to your music cd question, look up adobeman here. he has a GUI for windows that converts wave files into a DVD that will play on the TL. i currently have a couple DVDs with all my songs and at the least, one has 72 songs on it.

Alright, GREAT. That is what I thought.
I have a DVD Burner and DVD + R's I thought I read -R's are better.
Can anyone confirm that? I have DVD +RW and DVD +R.

Very few people have had luck with DVD+R. I even tried it with no success. I had to break down and by a spindle of DVD-R and they worked first time. Moving even single channel mp3s to DVD Audio makes it sound soooo much better in the TL system.
The convert is easy.
1. Use CDex to convert from mp3 to wav
2. Optional - try out adobeman's converter to get the small or large club feel. I like the small club.
3. Download Cirlinca DVD Solo (5 trial DVDs) to create the DVD Audio. Don't burn directly to disc. That didn't work for me. Choose that save to/as option that is available and create an Iso. Then burn the iso to dvd with your burning program.

I did some checking on the Christmas songs that I burned to a CD-R. The songs were in MP3 format, but the software I used converted the MP3 to an audio file which I was not aware of. So I do not have a CD with hundreds of MP3 on it. Sorry for the confusion. The good news is you can burn audio files on a CD and they play fine in the 3rd gen TL's.

Give the new pre-release "beta" version of Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo a try. http://www.cirlinca.com/downloadbeta1.htm The new beta is supposed to import mp3 files directly. My GUI really isn't so good at converting mp3 files. That's why Hawhyen51 advises to use CDEX. He's giving you good advice. CDEx is a great program.
DVD Audio Solo will let you make 5 discs for free. If it works for you it will probably be worth every penny of the $35 they get for it. Besides, if you get Solo, then you can play with the [goofy] Adobinizer.
BTW, I've owned a copy of Solo for a while now but I haven't used the beta version yet myself. I think a few other members have.

If you have a lot of MP3s downloaded from P2P sites (Limewire, for example), I would highly suggest converting them using CDex. Or re-rip them from the original source at a higher bitrate using the same app or EAC. You'll have better results.

I got my oil changed 4,000 miles ago and my oil life still says 60% left.
I called into acura and they said the computer reads how you drive the car, and checks the viscosity of the oil periodicly. Is that true?
Should I still plan to change the oil every 5,000 or go by what the computer says?

There's no hard rule about when to change your oil. You can use mileage as an indicatior or follow what the MID indicates. I personally use the MID for service intervals. Features of the MID from the owners manual:
. . . Based on engine operating conditions and accumulated engine revolutions, the onboard computer on your Acura calculates remaining engine oil life.
The system also displays the code for other scheduled maintenance items needing service.
