Question Jacking up 2006 TL?

Can you use a floor jack to jack up the entire front end of a new TL? I'm hearing you can use the aluminum piece under the engine. Is this accurate and if so where do you position the jack? I won't damage the aluminum doing this? Thanks. Steve

If your "hearing " it why not do it .. cuz if someone here says its ok .. your just "hearing " it again ... I usually just stick with the suggested jacking points.

Someone over in the VW Passat forums "heard" it was ok to jack the rear of a B5.5 up ny the center of the rear axel and jacked up the rear of thier 4Motion and brole the aluminum center carrier to the tune of a $1000 or so.

I've used the suggested jacking points for both front and rear, and it works great! Saves time during summer/winter wheel swaps.

I used to jack up my entire car (integra) with no problems, I use a craftsman 3.5 ton jack, which shouldnt have a problem with the TL.

BUT, I tried to jack it up twice, with 2 different jacks (one was a craftsman low racing jack) front and back, both times using the center jack points, and all I got was a lot of creaking and I was afraid of slipage, barely got the tire off the ground, deff not enough to get under and work on the car.

For those using ramps, which ones? I have a set of yellow ones from sears, but I think they are too high, the a spec lip wont entirely clear it.

From the title, I was looking forward to photos of the first 4x4 2006 TL with a 3 inch lift! I'm highly disappointed.

The TL is too nice of a car to not use the suggested jacking points.

where would you put the jack stands, would it bend the jacking points? would it be okay to put the jack stands on the beam under the car?

I answered this in your other post in the 3G Garage thread, but to repeat, the jack stands go under the support points you would use when jacking up the car with the scissor jack, and these are shown in the owner's manual.
