It's Stuck In The Garage!!!

My wife and I both drive Rubi TJ's with 33+ tires and dont know the definition of "STUCK"

Hower we have an 05 Honda TL for show that is stuck in the garage. The vehicle has less than 15k miles.

When putting the car in reverse it will not move, when rev'n the engine to 3k it moves slightly however it makes alot of noise. It sounds like the cars emergency brake or other brakes (rear) are clamping.

We have tried restarting the engine, checking the tires, and even making sure the neighbors didnt place their kids behind the car. The EMG break is off and has been pulled up and down.

Tomorrow I am going to unplug the battery and see what happens..

Does anyone have any ideas ???

it is possible that the e-brake is seized.

try moving the car forward a bit and reverse again. repeat the cycle a few times and see if it helps.

Sounds like the rear calipers are stuck. I had that happen to a WS 6 Firebird 4 wheel discs. They wanted $500 to rebuild rear brakes. This was 21 years ago. I traded in the car on a forgeign car.

I dont think he is from Canada or the US. Did a quick search on Rubi TJs and it is a Jeep. Where ever he is from, it is possible that the Acura brand does not exist and the Honda now carries the TL.

Sumerian, where are you from?

Have your wife wear close to nothing and lure an Acura....ehh uhhh Honda repair man to the house then feed him cookies and warm milk, re decorate your garage to look like a service repair garage then dress up like his boss, and once the warm milk has done its job wake him up and be like:

"WAKE UP SLACKER!! The back breaks on this TL needs to be fixed before NOON!"

Then once he realizes what has happened, bound him with zip ties (23 should do the trick)

Then leave him at the dealership with cookie crumbs on his shirt and a milk mustache........

Seriously though call the dealer.

You are correct a Rubi is the premium Wrangler and TJ means its 97-06 mine happen to be 05's. I bought all the cars in 05 when I thought I was rich.

With alot less beer in me I went out this morning to take a look.

The noise I am hearing is at least the driver rear tire sliding along the sealed garage floor. The tire is not spinning and locked in place. Looks like I am going to need a tow, unless someone has some ideas here.

PS I live in the US Honda/Acura whats the difference..

Call up your local "Honda" dealer and have them tow it in.

After you get it fixed, suggest you take the car for a spin at least once a week for a couple of miles....Cars can rot by just sitting (google "proper vehicle storage"). A co-worker bought a 1960's ford mustang from an old lady that had 20K miles on the original engine...He drove it home and had a world of expenses related to suspension/e-brakes/steeting system (engine flawless thou)...Hey, maybe you can have the Acura Roadside Assistance tow it for you for free? Just an idea Best of luck to you!

Thanks I just hung up with Roadside assistance and my dealership. They will only cover the first $100.00 of the tow. The dealership I am trying to get the vehicle to is about 40 miles away. I am letting them calculate the cost the cost, if its going to exceed $100.00 I may use AAA or closer dealership.

Its going to be interesting trying to get the car out of the garage given the fact that at least one of the rear tires will not spin..

If you can get to the shoes for the e-brake, you can free them by tapping with a hammer, most likely.

sounds like a stuck caliper, as others have said.

BTW: For all the people who seem to be clueless about the "rubi TJ" is a Wrangler Rubicon, which I would love to have as a second vehicle.

Hey I love to shop at Banana republic. I do belive its 100% better than the Gap or Old Navy. I would compare Gap to Old Navy and maybe Banana republic to Guess or DKNY.

Oh well, then again I dont know a whole lot about clothes so what do I know.

His point is Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic are all made by the same company...obviously there's a difference (admittedly, not to me), just as there is between Honda and Acura (but not to SuMeRiaN, I guess ).

That was my initial reason for my posting of the clothing company.

Same company, different names. And as most mentioned, you can compare to other lines of clothing or even cars. Honda VS Toyota, and Lexus VS Acura. yada yada.

W/e the case, it's how he views it, and so be it, ppl will make fun of him, and he wont care. Nor should we.

Ohh I get it, I love it when someone trys to make a point which later needs to be explained. I thought the analogy was pretty dumb and I am sure many will agree.

The car was towed away, I ended up using AAA.

Here is a picture of the Honda, yep I pop'd the hood and right there it said HONDA.

Here the tow truck driver scraped the noise on the garage floor.

And of course the damage to the vehicle.

In my case it would of been the same. The name of the tow truck company Acura was gong to use was revealed to me. When I called AAA I was given a choice of two company's and I went with the one Acura was using.

Edit; Its not actually Acura helping you out. Acura is just one of 1000's of companys that have a contract with this service provider.

If they can't find anything really wrong, you might consider not using the e-brake in the garage if it's going to sit for a while. If it's a manual , just use 1st gear.

Wait a sec. Didn't you say your car was for show? I mean it looks nice, but I wouldn't guess that's a show car; it looks pretty stock on the exterior, in fact.

Please explain.

We have never used the emergency brake before, I am only assuming that is the problem. I should have some more details tomorrow.
