IS350 Vs. Volkswagen Jetta

Today after work I was heading home driving down the street and there was a brand new Volkswagen Jetta tailgating me and tried to pass me. I was already going 55 mph at the 40 mph speed limit. The driver in the Jetta was kinda cocky. We slowed down approaching the light. He moved to the middle lane and stopped next to me at the light. Light turned green and we "LAUNCHED".. Yep, he punched it hard....thinking he will get past me and cut me off. I already had my VSC/Traction Off (habit of turning it off every time starting the car) and just turned on my ECT. By the time I hit 85 mph and look on my rearview mirror and he was about a football field behind... Holly sh#t........ LOL!

That Jetta guy stopped driving fast. He slowed down. Oh man what a fun drive today after work.

lol, I find that Jetta drivers tend to be quite aggressive, may be just in Vancouver?

Y did you bother wasting your gas? I get many ppl with their altimas, civics, etc always revving at me and trying to instigate a race but I always laugh right at their face and let them speed their way up to a red light or get stuck behind a car. After my IS300, the IS350 had caught my eye but didn't have enough dough to pull the trigger. Since I like the IS, I will give you the thumbs up on this race.

At least in LA, Jetta drivers tend to be the most moronic, clueless ones behind the wheel. Almost every Jetta I see has some type of body damage.

I know of two types of people who drive Jettas...teenage girls whose parents wouldn't get them a 3-series, or gay dudes.

Thanks.
That's because I don't drive much, therefore gas cost isn't my concern here. I haven't pushed my car for a long time and needed something to play with. Let's call it a little workout.

if it looked like the picture you posted then you killed a 150hp car or a 180 if it was a 08+. I wouldnt be too proud of myself if I was you. I am pretty sure but not positive that a chipped GTI can take you.

A chipped 2.0T could give the IS350 a good run for the money.

not bad for $600.

250lbs at 2500rpm and 300lbs at 3000rpm. That's amazing especially for a little 2.0 4 cylinder.

Yes, that's at the crank, as you can see, for the stock one, it's 207hp. VW claims the engine makes 200hp.

Those new Jettas are "interesting" looking to put it nicely. It did make the list (along with the 4th Gen TL) of cars that actually looked much better in their prior form.

VW stock doesnt make much less then what they are rated at. I havent been on vwvortex in a while but I remember before that stock ppl are getting close to 200hp at the wheels. and their torque is amazing. A guy in a friends VW club was spinning his wheels in the 3rd gear with only a chip. I saw it, it was awesom

if a chick driving stick wants to race...you race her!

specially if the car is formidable!

btw, imo, the new jettas are a chicks car+slow

old jettas are ok.
