Intro thread, and bad news :(

Hey guys.

i just bought my 04 NBP TL 6mt last week, with 140k miles. car was in pretty good shape...until this morning

then, this morning, i slid into the gas pump at a local station. F***!!!!!

so sad. only had her for 2 weeks. and this is my first claim since i was 16, now 22. horrible.

also, since everyone loves pictures, this is my old car. 2002 Audi S4 6mt, Stg 3 with rs4 turbos and a custom tune.

anways, it's nice to meet you guys

Sorry to hear about this, but look at the bright side, you'll get a newly painted front bumper without all the chips!

You are going to need a new fender, driver side headlight, and bumper at the least. I would try to get insurance to cover the passenger side light so they both match (one new and one old won't look right). Maybe try to get an a-spec kit while your at it!

Congrats on the TL and welcome to AZ! You may want to register her at www.myacura.com. Save your Navi and Radio codes there for safe keeping. Sorry to hear about the accident. Did you hit some black ice?

i was actually already in the station for about 50ft. turned right off the road into it, then went to make a right into the pump area, and went right into it....at about 1-2 mph.

when i got out to see the damage, i had only dented the lower metal area (usually has the gas co. logo on it), and looking at the tracks, i had never touched pavement since entering the lot through the 2-3" (depending on the spot) of slush/ice.

awful part, is i knew to be careful and go slow, but didn't even expect a less than first gear idle crawl speed to be "too fast"

but i've already made a claim, and should have it all fixed up by next week!

haha get what ever color wheels you like. It's a EURO thing, over on vortex everyone runs colored wheels haha At least your car had the balls to back that up, stage 3 with rs4 turbos on a 6 speed is pretty sweet.

You have similar taste in cars to me. I came from a 2002 s4 6MT as well. It was norago blue with the light gray interior. I also had it upgraded to around 400hp. While I miss the power of the s4, I don't miss the constant maintenance! You will grow to appreciate the TL for how well balanced of a car it is. Sorry to see you little accident... snow is one of the main reasons I moved from Chicago to FL 4 years ago!

Good luck with the repairs.

Why did you get rid of the Audi? How many miles did you have?

yes, had lots of problems with my audi. and i live in chicagoland myself!

sold it with 87k miles on it. had the clutch fuse to the flywheel (2nd time it had done that) and the common 1-2 collar problem was starting to rear its ugly head.

overall, i dumped 17k into that car, between mods and repairs in 2.5 years, and just couldn't do it anymore. and i wanted to get something honda built so i would be able to enjoy a true daily driver.

Small world. I had too many problems with my Audi to list! My tranny needed to be rebuilt at 73k. I hope you didn't make the mistake of getting it serviced at Schaumburg Audi like I did. That place is a scam. I'm sure you will love the TL. Go Bears!

Welcome to the other AZ... 400+ hp is hard to walk away from in the awd format!

But, it looks like you have a sweet base for Mods! Let the games begin!

Hate you had that happen... I remember sliding down a hill in my old mustang sideways on the ice... awful feeling...

yes, it took me second and third drop of $3k +++ repairs to make me bail when the 4th happened. lol

won't do much modding on this car tho, maybe some muffler stuff. but other than that i'll do some coils and wheels and thats about it.

Welcome! I too just picked up my 2005 TL 6spd/Navi (I'm coming from a Santorin Blue '98.5 A4 1.8tqms). Maybe I've seen you on vortex/audizine. Anyways, sorry to hear about the damage but you did make the right choice coming to Acura/Honda

... I finally gave up on a '61 impala ss I was working on after I ran into a snag every single time I worked on it... The TL is a really nice platform b/c you dont have to get crazy (or broke) to make it look unique and sound very good... when I go to the meets I am always amazed at the plumbing on some of the sweet TL's

I believe that he has the INTENTION of staying stock (minus the coilovers) but once you buy one thing, it's hard to stop.

power mods are just not the best idea. i mean, if you try and put yourself in my shoes, i had a 400whp setup on awd. and spent an asinine amount of money to have it.

no way i'm going to spend that type of coin again on a fwd setup. no offense to you guys, but it's just illogical to me.

but, i can tell this car is a great handling car, and because of that i can't wait to get a nice track-type coilover.

I can see where you're coming from. Once you get up there with power, you will spend more than you anticipated with tunes and supporting mods. But if you stay away from the supercharger and turbo kits, there really shouldn't be any unexpected expenses that you'll have from "minor" mods.

You may want to look into a rear sway bar too...will also help with the handling.
