IMO the original dash looks much classier. The later ones are just duplicates of the Honda Fit's

Color aside, I really dig the TL-S brushed metal guage surface. FWIW - I like the TL-S red, but the base blue is really cool too.

And a 3-Spoke Steering wheel is FTMFW. I've had several 4-spoke wheels and they ALL SUCK for comfort on long freeway drives. 3-Spoke is much more comfortable.

I hope to god you're joking. The Fit looks so damn cheap.

Nav helps make it look better, but then again, Nav in any Honda helps make their boring radio designs look better.

Pre-o7 dashboard ftw!
Looks so much nicer!

But I like the screen [in the center console] on the newer models.

I think the clock pushed it over the edge a bit with 2 shades of red. I think a bit less red would have been nice.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but other than red vs. blue color the Type S is the same as 07-08 base correct? (Talking instrument cluster only)

I think so, or that's what my dealer told me was the only difference with the gauges.

That is correct, red ring vs. blue ring. I'm partial to the color blue myself, so I vote for the 07-08 base. As a matter of fact, the blue interrior lights was one of the deciding factors in swaying me towards the base TL.

One of the features I love on the 07-08/type-s over the 04/06 is the relocation of the MID control to the steering wheel and the 3 spoke steering wheel.

One more thing I dint point out on the original post.

That's my interior... I added the silver out line to the cluster bezel. The base is black, Type-s has the silver out line.

well if you look at all the pics in this thread, all the 07-08 pics are much more of a higher resolution than the 04-06 pics, maybe thats why they look so outdated, i personally think visually in real life both styles look amazing.. adnd that the 04-06 does not look outdated at all

Acura says they are different.

Type-S Exlusive Features

....
  • Three-spoke steering wheel
  • .... contrast stitching on .... steering wheel

    ....
  • Gauges featuring "spun-metal" look with laser-etched numerals
....
http://www.hondanews.com/categories/...0?archive=2007

They are obviously wrong about the "Three-spoke steering wheel"; I assume that may apply to base non-navi? Maybe the guages and stitching too?

I also like the re-location of the MID in the TL-S and/or "07/'08.

Your are right... .there are many difference between base nav/type-s....

centerconsole and door trims have a different patter, 07-08 base only dark brown wood/ type-s CF triming. Memory buttong are silver on type-s. The stiching on the steering wheel is better. The door panels have a different desing.

I was curious about the guage cluster/background - in keeping with your thread. Is the base '07/'08 and the TL-S the same? I guess the steering wheel is - you pic shows a 3-spoke for both.

Now that you mention it, I didn't even realize the "spun-metal" on the TL-S. jguerra, how did you go about getting the "spun metal" gauges that still ight up blue on your TL base?

Bet you wouldn't say that if you drove a TL-S. Guage Cluster is actually very functional AND nice looking.

Don't like the brushed aluminum. The original blue looks great, IMO. I voted 04-06.

Order the type-s clustler bezel....its a direct fit.. and probably the quickes mod i ever done.... under 1.5 minutes.... get in the car.. pop the cluster.. make sure to not pull all the way.. unscrew the dash light control.. screw on o new.. pop in.. your done.

Same here. I like that they added the MID buttons on the wheel instead of the dash. I use them all the time on long trips. A high res center display would be nice too. All in all, I like the 04-06 slightly better.
