Unhappy Interior Quality issue...

Does anyone else get an annoying plastic squeaking noise in the center console?

Does your headliner also make that styrafoam queak when pulling out of a driveway or on bumps?

I love my TL but damn I hate these damn noises.

I'm just waiting for more problems to come up I send it in.

I also just noticed the paint coming off on my front bumper where it meets below the turn signal.

Otherwise I love the car.

I have 2200 miles on it.

I now have paint coming off on both sides of the bumper at the exact same spot... just in front of the wheel well maybe 5 inches.

Hmm...I have paint peeling off the front bumper near the turnsignal too. Maybe this is a more common problem than I thought.....anyone else got it?
Mine is silver btw...

I am getting the "styrofoam" sound from the area near the homelink. I'm sure it's something under the liner, and plan to take the car to the dealer to fix it. It's the only rattle or sound I have in my car. It's really not that annoying, but since the car is so quiet otherwise, it's noticeable.

Jesus Christ you guys all have brand new cars with only a couple thousand miles on them and the paint is peeling off.
If it one thing that I know, no GM product I ever bought ever had paint peel off it (usually I keep them 2-3years).

I have all your squeaks, plus...

back deck is horrible any moderate bass causes it to vibrate like crazy, passanger door has intermittent squeaks, and also I think the B pillar behind my head. The GF has a 75K mile Mirage with less squeaks and rattles than this new $32k "near luxury" car has! Dealer has been trying to squelch them, but they keep coming back! The Center console squeak seems to get worse with the A/C on I suspect since the plastics are contracting a bit!

The B pilar squeak I believe is from the adjustable shoulder height thingy. It is about the only thing that feels cheap in the car.

I'va always told myself I would never buy a 1st year remodel car because of all the quality issues that come with them...but the car itself is so nice that I can deal with the issues as long as they fix them.

paint peeling and squeaks

I have slight paint peeling on both sides in same area. I also have headliner squeaks near handle above driver's and passenger's door. I took my car to the dealership today where I rode with the service tech. He heard the squeaks. He then examined it for an hour and said he thought it was coming from the side curtain airbags moubted in this area. He is going to contact Acura tech. line and contact me back about it. I bought my car third week of February and have 3100 miles on it. Vin 31XXX

squeaking/crackling noise on headliner

I too have this noise, and have been back to the dealership 6x for various issues. It seems like ACURA is aware of the problem but they are saying that since its not a safety issue, it is not a priority. The service department in my dealership is great but they can't do anything about it any more. They have tried to fix and were able to minimize some of the noise but still have a few of them in different parts of the headliner. They say that I should just live with it first until ACura comes up with a fix or bulletin for it. Some deny there is such a thing and they tell me that its the first they have heard of it but bottom line is its there and we need to be diligent in trying to let ACURA know that it exists in a lot of cars for them to come up with a fix sooner than later. Like Goonrider, I love this car but just can't stand the noise its making.

Interior quality (best phrase I can use) is horrible on the new TL, it looks fantastic, the materials look fantastic, but the parts that hold it together are where they cut the corners. How can the head-liner and third brake light be dropping their felt? Mine looks like the cleanest 30 year old head-liner you ever saw. Heck it took my 300ZX 16 years before it started falling apart, this new car took less than 2 months.

On top of that the various rattles that affect a big portion of these cars, my mom's 5 year old KIA Sephia doesn't rattle as badly as my new TL does. My brothers 1972 International didn't rattle this damn bad....

Unacceptable :yack:

YES, I have and dislike these two noises! But they're not nearly as bad as rattles. They are only occasional and are mild and consistent with the moments (like in turns) that correspond to stress on the body.

The "styrofoam" sound (great description of this sound, by the way) is really bizzarre! You can experience it at any time by pushing with your finger against the headliner pretty much at any point. What the hell kind of backing did they use?

And I'm also having a very faint rustle/rattle from the belt slider on the B-pillar, but only when it is in its highest position. I lowered it a notch and it's fine.

I have paint peel off on the bumper on the passenger side, is the gap between the bumper and the side fender where they meet. I am not sure if mine was from an accident, e.g. shopping cart smashed to it, or originally there. Anyway, I originally thought it was a piece of paper went into the gap, so it pulled it and it was a piece of paint from the bumper. Don't know, but possibly is when they installed the bumper, the inner bumper surface rubbed against the fender because I can see the paint was wrinkled.

I must have lucked out. No paint peeling, no rattles or squeaks, no mechanical or tire problems, and mine is one of the first ones. This is the best quality car I have even owned.

I have one annoying sound that comes from the middle vents when taking off from a dead stop and accelerating slowy. I can't figure it out and I am afriad if I take it to the dealer they will only make it worse.

Annoying Noise on Passenger Side

I have an annoying noise from the passenger seat area when I goose it from a dead stop to show up the posers who dare to challenge. It alternately sounds like: "Eeeyaaa! Act your age!" or "Slow down, you idiot!" I only hear it when the GF is with me.

My headliner finally gave out. The wind coming in from the open sunroof blew it open. I was able to put it back but now I'm afraid to open the sunroof. Do dealers merely put in more double-sided tape or are they doing something more substantial?

So far, knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with mine yet. But I've only put just over 1000 miles on it so far.

TLover - Are you saying your headliner was perfectly fine until this happened? Or that you had minor problems with it already?

Mine is fine and now you've got me wondering whether I should ever open the roof when I'm at highway speeds.

The headliner was perfectly fine until two days ago. Was driving with the sunroof open when it came loose.

I also have peeling paint on bumper where it meets the quarter panel. Sucks to have this problem when I've had the car 3 months.

My headliner is falling down..how do they expect double sided tape to stick to a hot roof? I brought the car to the dealer and they stuck same clips back,1 hour later it was falling down again. Now they are ordering a complete new headliner(that it doesn't need)..I am thinking that this will turn in to a nightmare because I have no cofidence in service...

I think it'll be a while before Acura actually comes up with a good fix for this. This is obviously a design flaw that needs to be addressed with more than tape or velcro or clips.

I'm taking my car to the dealer soon to have a little styrofoam sound near the home link area fixed...it's really the only problem I've had with my car since new. I guess I'm lucky since there are no other noise's or rattles anywhere in the car. There is one other area I want them to look at, and it's not a rattle or noise, but just some dirt in the third brake light area...looks like someone got their dirty hand prints all over the area behind the glass where the black plastic is under the back window. It looks like someone just forgot to clean it when they assembled the brake light. Does anyone else have any dirt or marks on the plastic in the area that I'm speaking about????
