Interior door handles peeling
Interior door handles peeling
Hi, everyone!
One of the relatively few cosmetic issues on my 2007 TL-S is that the satin finish of the interior door handles is crackly and peeling from the back. They actually look totally fine from the front, but make for an unpleasant experience when opening the doors.
I was surprised not to find anything on the forum addressing this issue, so I’m not sure if this is unique to mine or simply doesn’t bother anyone else. I found new replacement handles online, but wondered if anyone has a different or better solution before I buy them.
Thanks in advance!

The outer face of my interior door handles are starting to pucker off the base metal. I've been ignoring it for several years. I lived within a mile of the ocean for over 10 years so I'm thinking that may have something to do with it. The center section of the intake plenum on the engine is also corroded and peeling. The car has always lived outside and the black window trim around the doors is also fading and peeling. I probably do a mediocre job taking care of the outside finish but maintain the mechanicals and function better than most. I love this car. Bought it new in 2006 and it has less than 90k miles. Just did the cam belt and water pump this past summer. Only problem was with the HFL failing and the upper dot matrix HVAC display going flaky/erratic. It's a Navi/automatic. I'm keeping this thing till the sun don't shine or I take a long dirt nap.

Acura used an odd metallic coating over plastic for the handles; you can try replicating it but it won't be as durable or look as good. Some folks sand it and get they hydro-dripped. I'll probably pay for new ones when it's time, or some good used ones; I think it was $50 the last time I looked for the whole assembly.
