I don't post here often so forgive me if I look like a troll. Just wondering if there is still sufficient interest out there for a CF engine cover? I've read in the archives that a person by the name of MichaelBenz was selling them back in 06 but since has been banned.

A good friend's friend (company) does CF work and I would like to approach him with this if there's still interest for them. Obviously, the target price will not be higher than the previous seller.

The following pics I took personally. They are an engine cover for a Volvo V70R. The quality is exceptional.



If there's enough interest, I'll approach him with the idea. I figure it would take a few weeks to make the mold and crank out the first few prototypes to get all the mistakes out, so figure 6-8 weeks (total guess) after asking him?

 

Around how much would they be?

 

The other seller sold them for $260 shipped I believe, so the target price will be maximum that same price. I will push for a lower price with the company. But first I'm trying to get an idea of the number of people interested. I don't want them to waste resources on making the mold and whatnot, only to sell a few.

 

honestly, I think there will be more interest for exterior parts.

 

took the words right out of my mouth fizzle, I don't even roll with an engine cover... why would I wan't a cf one... I'd like a cf RL style antenna for my roof instead... or how bout some cf grille parts... like the chrome on the hood make that piece out of cf rather than me having to go out and wrap it with a sheet of cf lol

 

I am much more interested like the previous two posts in exterior cf parts. It would be nice to get the rear license plate reverse light part in cf.

 

If you get enough interest, have your friend approach Astro about becoming a vendor.

I want a CF engine cover!

I was part of that list of people that Mike never came thru for. If this is a pipe dream as well, then go away. If not...put me down on the list! You fellas that want exterior mods, there is someone here for that already I think.

 

$200-300 seems a bit much, mabe all of the plastic covers under the hood for $300 might interest me...including the battery cover, engine, and all around the engine compartment...

but then again it's not possible for it to be that cheap and for anyone to make a profit, so i guess it's not gonna happen.

 

there is nothing wrong with having more than one person working on exterior cf parts...
ua6aspec I believe has done like 3 cf parts... all for the base tl, I want some stuff that is for both models like the piece I mentioned, the chrome piece on the hood NEEDS TO BE CF cuz when I get a cf hood it will look HOT FIRE

I'd be down, if the price is right. I'd really like a RonJon esque front grill done in CF!

 

Now the floating "A" on the front of my grille...I would LOVE to have that in CF!

Relax, don't you guys sleep around here? It's not vaporware, if there is enough interest, then I will approach with the idea. Obviously, the final say is if the company agrees to do it or not.


It seems like there is some interest in the chrome hood piece to be CF as well. Since I don't own a 3rd Gen TL (2nd Gen owner here), I'll take a look at the parts department for the piece.

 

I would be interest in the CF hood, but it also depends on the price.

Just make certain you get set up here as a vendor before making promises that others have backed out on. There's a cost to doing business and this is one of them. I replied to the poll as interested but of course, it's also dependent upon price.

As mentioned, I haven't made any promises yet, just wanted ya'lls feedback. I hope to hear from my guy soon.

I'm serious about this cover. Heck, I just ordered a brand new OEM one from the dealer today.

I'll meet up that fabricator tonight since he is in town. So I will get his pricing on the door sill and also check on the status on the rear diffuser.

Honestly........it won't nice. Yes it can be done but not overlay but molded and cost a lot. I'm not sure if another other TLer are interested. Not sure if it would even covers my mold charge.
