Installing '04-'06 BASE A-spec on '07-'08 Base?

Just found out that the 07-08 base a spec is no longer sold in NBP and it's just too much cash to buy it and have it painted.

Bruce said the 04-06 base front would need to be cut in order to fit on the 07-08 front bumper.

I've been searching since I found out on how to install this and I have yet to find anyone who did the install? I've seen the base front on the type s and the type s on the base. But no 04-06 base on the 07-08 base.

Anyone got any links? I keep coming up dead on finding what the cut/install looks like.

I agree, I like the 04-06 better than the base 07-08.

I guess I waited too long to buy the kit and now the front is offered anymore for the 07-08 which was a direct install .

I was hoping that more people would have installed the 04-06 kit on their 07-08's, but I guess I was wrong . Really was hoping to not have to spend so much on just the front bumper.

Decisions decisions...

PM this member in the thread below, he has done it before.

I'm guessing where it gets cuts is around the fog light area, just like how the base 07-08 lip does to fit the Type-S bumper.

Thanks Machine! Exactly what I was looking for!

That looks easy enough, as you mentioned easier than doing the type s rear on the base!

Tried to do my install today and got rained out.

Found a issue, and couldn't really figure out how to get around it before the rain came. So I figured I would see if anyone has any ideas.

The 04-06 kit comes with a template that you need to tape to the bottom of the front bumper to drill the holes and such.

Well either I'm blind or the 07-08 does not have the parts that match this template and I couldn't easily determine where to place it.

EDIT: Does the front of the template go directly to the front of the bumper? From the pictures it looks as if it sits back a little bit and is taped in place toward the middle, almost looks as though it was supposed to be built so that it lines up with other things on the 04-06 bumpers?

Since the 04-06 lip needs to be cut to fit the bumper I thought maybe I could force it on to fit and get it somewhat lined up then drill my holes, but then if the lip is off just a bit I'll be off on the install.

There is not a good documented install for the 04-06 on the base 07-08. I know where the cuts need to be made and feel pretty comfortable with a dremel and could do it myself, but wanted to see if anyone had any insight on getting the holes lined up well?

The directions don't advise taking the bumper off, but maybe that would make a world of difference on the install and lining up the template and getting the holes right?

Just take the bumper off. No, you don't HAVE to, but I found it made things way easier, you can dri fit it and what not easier before you commit to anything.

I did not need to drill my 2004 a-spec to my TL-S bumper.
