Injen CAI Install

After reviewing all the posts about the CAI, I purchased the Injen and installed it tonight. I have mixed emotions.

1. I was very concerned about the sound and the 'burp' when the car shuts off. Under normal driving conditions, the sound is not noticable. The 'burp' is something to get used to.

2. Now that it is installed, the car appears to hesitate when shifting. When left in fully automatic, under full acceleration, the car appears to have zero power when it shifts.

3. If I rev the engine in neutral, it hesitates around 4K RPM and then continues up.

Does anyone experience the above problems? Any suggestions?

On the Altimas.net website (my last car was an '02 Altima SE), a lot of people were seeing problems with the Injen, mainly involving the support bracket on the ram tube breaking off. Also, Injen uses the K&N filter.

I bought and installed the Frankencar/Apexi WAI and it seemed to produce a little more power than the Injen.. mostly due to the fact that the ram tube was a straight shot to the throttle body and the Apexi filter is better than the K&N. Also, better low and mid-range torque with the Frankencar/Apexi.

Good luck.. hope you get your problems ironed out and let us know what the cause is. Could it be that the ECU just has to relearn the new environment?

I hope you are right about the ECU 'learning'. I will give it a week, and then go back to stock.

I have the Injen as well. The sound while turning off the car is perfectly normal with almost all CAIs for most cars. The hesitation while shifting is something that is always happening with TLs, but now the increased sound of the CAI allows you to hear it. Our ECU is set up to close the throttle body during every shift. It is a design flaw (in my estimation), and I hope that this is eventually addressed with an aftermarket chip. As for the third issue, 4K is around when VTEC begins to kick in, that may be the difference that you are noticing as VTEC usually has a little hesitation before kicking in full-force.

Jet is to release a new program for the ECU within the next 2 months. They said you need to send your computer in and they would overnight it back. Does anyone have experience with Jet?
