I'm sad - found a ding

We have a ding above the rear door on the passenger side, not on the roof but just below that. I'm finding out now if the headliner has to be removed to push it out with dent removal. I have no idea how it got there. It's big enuff to catch my eye but my wife does not care. It's a weird spot to get a ding.

Maybe I will be happier once I tint the windows tomorrow.

perhaps rather than "pushing" it out, you could "pull it out"

dent removal suction or some other tool

?

It's too small to do that, I've had painless dent removal done on other cars before and this one has to be done from the inside. I still can't figure out when this could have happened, it's a vertical small crease. I noticed it when I was inside a Starbucks, and to add insult to injury, I later spilled my coffee inside the cup holder AND my wife kicked my coffee over when I put it on the curb.

Could have been some flying debris - a little rock chip or a little bit of wood that was sent flying after a car ran over it at highway speeds?

I've seen a lot of little 2" by 2" wooden blocks that go flying on the freeway because some carpenters don't throw those pieces away and leave them on their truck beds.

John,

Do you use CA waterblade to wipe after washing? Sometimes you just tend to wipe fast and the handle getts on the boddy and leaves a dent like that. I've a little ding at the exact same place due to this.

Try the Ding King
http://www.dingking.com/ (About $20 at my local parts store)

I pulled a golf ball sized dent out of the gas tank on my Ducati.

I did go and have it manually washed, the metal there is not super soft is it? They used towels.

Hey, I saw what happened to a BMW when a large fish hi it from on high - the theory is that an eagle or some other large raptor dropped it. It made a huge dent in the roof.

I would have loved to see their insurance claim!

Go with PDR if you can - I swear by it - the 2nd day I had my NSX-T, the aluminum side panel got a dime size small ding, with no paint damage at all - likely a piece of wood debrs. Anyway, for $95 ($10 more than usual since it was aluminum), the car looked perfect. I was happy to write that check. I wrote an article on the whole experience and process for Nutz and Boltz as a result.

Come to think of it, I recall a branch falling from a tree one very windy day... I bet that's the culprit.

I am going to Arlington Acura at 11am tomorrow to get it fixed. It is pretty notieceable. I guess the roof is double walled so it's tricky to get access.. worst case they glue a puck to the spot to pull it out.

Got it fixed!

He glued an attachment and gently pulled it out and worked it, it was $120 but it was worth it.
