I'm in the market for a TL, question for you guys...

I have lurked on these forums the past few weeks reading about the car you all love and love to fix rattles in (lol) and I decided I'd make an account before I purchased the car and ask your opinion.

I'm looking to buy a Used 05/06 Acura TL (with low miles and warranty) either private or dealer, and I was wondering if I should wait until the 09 TL comes out...

Since it is an all new design and body type ( I hate it by the way ), will a new generation comming out affect the price of the 05/06 used car market or does it only affect the new 2008's on the lot? If it does how much usually any ideas?

I spoke to my local dealership (Miami Acura) and he said he's getting the names of people ready who would like a call when they arrive and that he is expecting them September 24, 09.

Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

If you don't like the 09 body style.........08 TL-S most definately. Great time to buy one. Deal at the end of the month, that's when sells reps are trying to meet quota's. Good luck.

Thanks for your inputs guys, but remember my question is on the value of the 05/06 models, I am looking to buy one of the older ones due to $..... So I was wondering if it would be smart to wait until after the 09 is released to finally purchase my 05/06 TL....

I think it's really hard to predict what the release of the 4G ('09) version will do to the value of used TL's of the '05/'06 variety. The fact is, the car is seen as pretty reliable and a good value. I suspect (and it's only a guess) that the fact that there is a new body style will have relatively little effect on the values of the 05/06's. I'd suggest that if you find the car that really fits your needs and wants, just get it. IMO you're unlikely to see much of a price difference by waiting.

BTW, if you can find an '06, get it instead; there are some subtle differences that you can appreciate...also try to get NAV if you can as well; my

If you are going used, I'd hold out for one with NAV as well. It's well worth it and being used, you won't get hit with the full price difference.

If you are financing, I would at least see what the local Acura dealer has to offer on a new one, it may be very close payment wise because of the special financing.

Good luck!

I suspect the values will go down a little for the 3rd gen body style since a new body style will be current- but this is probably also being factored in with today's prices on the used car market. You might want to see how the previous gen TSX did regarding pricing once the new model came out- I would guess the 3rd gen TL might follow suit. What ever we tell you is speculation while you can look at real data with the TSX or even Accord.

value will go down, but not by much. I urge you to get an 05 at the least since they have a few less issues versus the 04, such as butt-prints in the seats.

my dealer had a good point. Many customers who are looking for a deal on the 2009 will be pushed toward the 2008 because of the rebates. Bottom line - if you like the 2008 body style, get it while you can!

I am holding out until Jan or so to see if I can get one once the 09's hit and thanks to GM's employee pricing, used car values are going to go down.....due to the glut on the market..

Listen to this guy. It's a huge myth that model changes of any brand have a profound effect on the value of prior generations.

Definately get the Navigation system in your 05/06. Its worth it!! To answer your question though, I think the release of the 09 wll have a minor impact on the value of the 05/06 if any. So if you find a 05/06 with the mileage/color/options you a looking for, just get it and ENJOY

The 09 should not have much, if any impact on the 08's or older. They are all going to depreciate. Remember, homes appreciate. Cars depreciate. So if you wait, of course you will be able to get a better price, but that probably won't have much to do with the 4G. In fact, if you wait long enough (5 years or so) you will be able to get one for $10,000 or less.
The point of my rambling is that buy what makes you happy today. You never know if you will be here tomorrow. And you're dead for a long time. Just my

I did the same thing, read the forums and found the one I wanted and picked up an 06 with 25K on the odometer for 23K. I am very happy with the 06.

I was looking for the same, but I found that the depreciation is so low on these cars that you might as well bump up to a used 07 or 08 if you can find it. I had to have navigation (it completes the car IMHO) and 2005-2006 models were rare in my area, and they were only $3-4,000 less than what I got my 08 for at an out of state dealer. Hardly worth the loss of warranty and the increase in miles.
